TTU signs guard for 2014
by Michael Johnston
Ballard's Quentin Snyder is one of the top players nationally in the class of 2014 and college coaches are starting to take notice. According to his father, Snyder picked up his first scholarship offer from Tennessee Tech.

Snyder had a banner freshman season, averaging 12.7 points per game. He helped lead the Bruins to a 29-4 record. He has been playing great this spring as well. He helped lead the Louisville Magic, coached by former University of Louisville basketball player Ellis Myles, to a 15u Kentucky State Championship back in May. He scored 14 points in the title game.

In early June Snyder was invited to the Super Soph Camp in Atlanta. He shined at the camp, making the All Star game for the top 20 players at the camp. Hoop Scoop has him ranked as the No. 21 player nationally in the class of 2014.

Tennessee Tech has a nice team but they are not considered a basketball powerhouse by any means. As he continues to improve more scholarship are sure to come. Back in May Snyder told the Louisville Courier-Journal that Oklahoma State and Xavier were showing a lot of interest.

Snyder is an excellent shooter, passer and ball handler. He shot 45 percent from the floor this past season. What makes him so dangerous is his ability to score or distribute the ball. If his team needs him to score, Snyder is capable of scoring 25 points on any given night. However, he's most effective when he scores 16 points and dishes out eight or nine assists.

He reminds me of former Louisville Eastern guard and current Boston Celtic Rajon Rondo, because of his quickness and length. It should be fun watching him develop over the next three years.
