In the short time since WVU's coaching situation has been resolved, the Mountaineers have gotten 5 more verbal committments, bring the total committed for 2012 to double digits (10). The 2 latest were both from Baltimore; Da'Quan Davis from Calvert Hall College and Deontay McManus from Paul Laurence Dunbar (the same program that gave WVU Tavon Austin)...
The Mountaineers just picked up verbal #12, mammoth 6'5" 315 lb Juco OT, Will Latu, from the College of the Canyons in Santa Clarita, CA. OL Coach Bill Bedenbaugh is bulking up the O-line nicely...
I think so too. He's only been playing football for 3 years, and he's one of the top juco OL out there. If he makes it to Morgantown in time for spring football, which is his plan, Bedenbaugh may have his bookends for the next 2 years. Quinton Spain and this kid would make a nice pair of OTs. Don't you think?
So far so good for the Holgerson era Bit. It seems possible, even likely, that we could be over half way done with this recruiting class before the season even starts

Look like that big OT has committed to Auburn now. In my book football needs to hvae an early signing period this BS of committing and changing their minds is BS. Dont commit if you are not sure. Wonder how much cash Auburn handed him
That's not a great loss. Frankly I'd rather WVU pick up a talented freshman and let Bedenbaugh coach him up. That's how we've done it with all our best linemen. Juco transfers haven't worked out well for the Mountaineers on the offensive side of the line...
Of course, he could change his committment again. We'll see. But this is not a problem at this stage in the game. WVU is ahead of the game. Every other year I've seen, we've had fewer recruits at this point in the recruiting season. WVU should have no problem using up their available scholarships...
WVU has picked up a couple of committments in the last week or so. The latest is LB Sam Lebbie, who also had offers from UC, Rutgers, Illinois, Maryland, North Carolina, and Vanderbilt. That brings the total to 14 recruits for 2012...
Here's the complete list...
DT Imarjaye Albury
QB Ford Childress
DB Da'Quan Davis
DB Jarrod Harper
LB Joseph Jackson
LB Sam Lebbie
WR Deontay McManus
ATH Brandon Napoleon
DE Bret Niederreither
OL Tyler Orlosky
ATH Albert Reid
WR Devonte Robinson
ATH J.T. Washington
WR Trevor Williams
bit -- how many scholarships does WVU have to offer?
...btw, it would be cool if each football school started their own recruiting thread like USF, TCU and WVU have started. Its a good way to follow conference wide recruiting efforts and get to know our future opponents. For all the talk about expansion, tv contracts, uniforms etc.....recruiting is the only sure fire way this conference will get better. Pitt is finally getting some momentum, while UCONN, UC, UL, Rutgers and CUSE are putting together some nice classes as well but would be nice to have a 'go to' place on this board to keep up.
I'm not sure. There are a couple of lost scholarships, due to the violations under RR and Stew. But I think it's 22. Jackson may know for sure. I'm guessing at the moment...
Looks like Alabama is still going after Will Gardner our QB commitment. All fair in war & recruiting but I know we are doing something right if in fact Saban has not given up on him.
