Bill Curry continues to build Georgia State program
http://neighbornewspapers.com/storie...program,172280

Quote: “Everybody made a big deal out of the winning season; I think it should’ve been better,” Curry said. “Our players do, too.”
Image-wise, though, he loves where the Panthers are. A year ago, Curry said, if someone strolled across the urban campus they would see Georgia Tech gold, Georgia red and black, and just about any other major Southern school’s colors.
“Now, all you see is blue and white,” Curry said. “Panther stuff. Almost as if unconsciously, the kids have decided they really love this team.”
Quote: “The best email I’ve gotten was from a female veteran faculty member who said, ‘Dear Coach Curry, I did not approve of football coming to Georgia State. I have never liked football ... until now. Go Panthers,’” he said. “I just thought that was so cool.”

RE: Bill Curry continues to build Georgia State program
GaSt had all the characteristics to make a rapid move up through the divisions; big, southern, public, urban school like Old D, UCF, USF, and the F_Us. The realignment shuffle has taken a big pause. Had teams continued to change conferences it would be in CUSA today.

They'd better worry about beating lowly Abilene Christian University.

Congrats - an FBS team converted a 4th and 19 to barely beat ACU, a team that's brand new to FCS.

And you're on the CAA forum.

Oh how I miss those days of having fun with Panama and showing GA State some love at Zable. But alas, he's gone away to play with his new confetencemates in Statesboro & Boone.

Panama, can you believe I, of all people, am a moderator? Seriously...me. LOL

Best of luck, big boy, and keep fightin' a good fight!

I laughed harder at this than I should have.

Nobody fights the good fight quite as well as Panama.

The thing about Panama that I always appreciated was he was the definition of FANatical and never apologized for being so. Bless his heart, he truly believed.

And, you could hit him with a truck and he'd keep swinging...usually in a condescending yet somehow good-natured manner. Usually.

If anyone deserves the $10,000 in cash from Georgia State it's Panama.

We are in FBS, 1-1 and play Air Force at home this week and Washington on the road next week. Our QB is #12 in passing yards in the nation and we are averaging 511 yards Total Offense (#27). So yeah I can laugh now.

Ah come on...you've won one game in forever (to include pee-wee schools) and needed a miracle to beat that new FCS program in front of a few thousand fans. We were beating two BCS teams in the 4th the past couple years and played Virginia Tech at VT closer than #8 Ohio State played them in Columbus but it's not about with whom we dance but how we perform. Same 'ol Panama. LOL

The 2nd oldest school and elite academic university and most of America can't find us on a map? Please tell me you think more people have heard of GA State University than W&M.

Just for fun, I entered Atlanta, GA in Google Maps. With one zoom in, I saw Clark ATL, something called Morris Brown University, Emory, and GT. I needed to zoom in 4 times before GA State popped up. Who knew a person could find Morris Brown on a map before GA State? Try it for yourself. LOL
