Frogs were #10 nationally in women's soccer attendance, just wish we could get our men's team back.
How many fans for #6 nationally? I know that UofL had an undefeated team (until losing to Akron in the final) and that there is interest in soccer in town. But why a new stadium? Can't they just expand seating at the current track and soccer stadium in the middle of Cardinal Park? Will the old stadium just be used for track and field now? Very few meets.
Here's the Top 20 in Men's Soccer Attendance last fall:
1. UC Santa Barbara: 5,873
2. Akron: 3,213
3. Connecticut: 3,126
4. Cal Poly: 3,013
5. Maryland: 2,940
6. Louisville.: 2,768
7. New Mexico: 2,731
8. Creighton: 2,277
9. Indiana: 2,271
10. Wake Forest: 2,094
11. Virginia: 2,069
12. South Carolina: 2,054
13. Penn St: 1,842
14. North Carolina: 1,629
15. Michigan: 1,628
16. Portland: 1,539
17. Charlotte: 1,389
18. Ohio St: 1,311
19. St. John’s: 1,302
20. Clemson: 1,287

I think if you want to continue being competitive, you need that new stadium. USF has a nice track/soccer stadium and we just inished building a soccer only stadium and the track got renovated. Its an arms race and you have to continually keep everything upgraded.

Because we are building world class facilities at Louisville. Hence, better loacation, increased capacity and a better ventue. Its all part of the new campus improvement and expansion plan. Our campus will soon be a school located in a giant and beautiful park like venue.

We do have a good thing going.
Despite the perception from some that: Kentucky is a dumb state, Louisville is in Kentucky, therefore Louisville must be dumb….fact is Louisville has many smart, very successful business leaders.
But just as important, Louisville is one of the largest cities in the US without a pro sports team. For most of us, UofL Sports is our pro team, and many of the most successful business people here have a loyalty to UofL. It's common for one of them to throw down a million or two or more to help with our growing empire of sports facilities.
Heck, Papa Pizza founder John Schnatter donated $10 million to our last football stadium expansion; no strings attached. Another example, not even on campus, our women's rowing team got a state-of-the-art facility on the Ohio River started by a $1.5 million donation from somebody named Garvin Brown III that I had never heard of....these are the type of great things that go on here.

Its additions like these that makes Louisville a tough school for a conference to lose and a great addition to a conference. We all know football drives the bus but a commitment to athletics across the board builds a dedicated alumni base that spends money on the school and conference in the future. There's a reason Big 10 teams all reside in the top of the Direct Cup Standings. You absolutely HAVE to invest across the board.
