Houston Baptist to Southland?
Houston Baptist announces plans to start football, contingent on finding a conference home not named the Great West:

The Great West, which started as an FCS football-only conference, is down to the following institutions: Utah Valley, Houston Baptist, Texas-Pan American, Chicago State, and NJIT.

I doubt it happens anytime soon. If it did that would make 4 D1 football teams in the city of Houston, two FBS and two FCS.

WOW I think we found the next Big East Basketball only. The recruits will be lining up to play in that huge arena, it looks like there is about 30k there!

I cannot understand why HBU wants to or thinks they can do this. They are a small, not very rich school. They still have a building closed they haven't repaired since Hurricane Ike.

Disclaimer: my foster daughter goes to HBU. It's a good place for her. I just can't see any logic in D1 football there.
