RE: BB Schools Attendance Revisited
Okay, I just finished with the first of the FB Schools Attendance. And it may be my last look at this, so I'm placing it within this thread even though we are now onto the FB schools. I had planned a separate thread on this, but after just completing the SU data, I'm not sure I'll get the energy to do the rest or not. Maybe this weekend.

Like Marquette, I think SU's attendance is more driven by weeknight and weekend games and late Feb/early March games vs early January games since even Rutgers and DePaul can sometimes draw 28K plus when the game is placed advantageously.

But still, here are the Top Draws for Syracuse Basketball:

Villanova - 30372
Louisville - 29321
Georgetown - 28573
Connecticut - 26937
Marquette - 26227
Notre Dame - 25451
Pittsburgh - 24215
Seton Hall - 23946
DePaul - 23340
Cincinnati - 23308
West Virginia - 22981
Rutgers - 22824
St. John's - 22558
Providence - 21301
South Florida - 19416

The St. John's numbers were skewed by one bad game placement in early January. The average of the other two games was 25K, with one of those on a Tuesday night.

UConn would have placed higher if three of their 4 games weren't weeknight games.

Nova's numbers are higher than they should be basically because the majority of these games were in Feb/March, played on weekends, and had huge promotions for some of them, like GMac's Senior Day.

Georgetown's numbers are phenomenal considering 3 of the 5 were weeknight games. No team draws better for SU on a weeknight than the Hoyas. They draw better on a weeknight than a lot of the other teams on Saturday.

Cheers,
Neil

This just proves the basketball only schools have fair weather fans that only come out for 4 or 5 games with the exception of Marquette, they were consistant through out the whole year. Not alot of people coming out for the Louisville games....The CARDS belong in a conference that makes more sense like in the midwest or southeast, nothing against the BE but its a northern conference trying to be something its not.

I bet Cusa would welcome the Cards back with open arms.

Yep, they were a perfect fit for the old Metro conference and remain a perfect fit for C-USA. 04-cheers

Minus 1...unless there is an invite to the SEC or Big Ten then I am more then happy being in the BIG EAST. Best Basketball Conference in the country and a AQ Football League.

Nah, USF is a better fit for C-USA then Louisville right now especially with it "rivalry" with UCF...05-stirthepot

Just meant for 'quo vadis and not the other USF fans. Myself I am more then happy being in the BIG EAST and the Louisville administration I am sure feels the same way.

Maize, you are sensible poster. The BE is the best option that BE schools have and it will continue to be the best option. I figure that once we get the new contract and a tenth school that many self hatin BE fans will come back down to earth.

Completely agree & truth of the matter if we can get ACC numbers on the next contract without adding anyone else I am more then happy with the current setup.

TCU really boost the profile of the league for football and basketball both men & women speak for itself. Plus if we don't have to add anyone it would give us 8 games for football and a balanced schedule.

RE: BB Schools Attendance Revisited
My guess they are either holding out 4 a Longhorn league/SEC/Big Ten invite which ain't happening and most UofL fans are very happy with the BIG EAST.

Wilkie case is he wants to turn the BIG EAST into the BIG C-USA which ain't happening either. The BIG EAST in the end took the best of the "Old C-USA" 2 booster itself and 2 me from top to bottom is more balanced as a football league & now stronger with the addition of the Rose Bowl Champs and in Basketball is the best league in the country.

I've got a feeling it won't take TCU long to become competitive in BEast basketball. The top players in Texas will want to play the best, and where else can you do that?

Many said the same thing back in 2004-2005 (i.e. best players in FLA will want to play in the best hoop conf)...right when USF was set to begin to join the Big East in Hoops.

Much easier said than done.

No doubt that would play a role...as TCU's Coach had success at Kent State (2 NCAA 1st round appearances in 6 seasons) but in his 3 years at TCU, in a conf not nearly as good as the Big East, his teams have regressed each season:

2008-2009 TCU 14-17
2009-2010 TCU 13-19
2010-2011 TCU 11-22

TCU certainly has a chance to improve in their last season in MWC, made easier with the departures of BYU and Utah....like for any new member, jumping up from MWC to Big East would be a huge step up.
