The 3 teams will be
UTSA (huge school, lots of alumni, no major pro or college teams in town, closest pro team is in Houston. Closest college team is in Austin.)

Rice (long history, someone has to offset the academic hit of taking UTSA)

Boise (someone has to offset the crummy Rice team)

Kidding, kidding

For real the three new schools are Villanova, ECU and Memphis, thanks to WVU, UofL and Cincy.

I was about to blast you for being a ahole, but it has occured to me that people on a board dominated by Big East discussion and easterners might think "basketball" when discussing pro teams and conference expansion. It didn't cross my mind that anyone would be thinking anything but NFL teams when I mentioned pro teams.

Shows how different Texas and the East really is culturally.

Is that strictly your opinion, or have you heard anything new? It does seem that the "football schools" have acquired more pull. I'm wondering where Pitt falls on this one? Pitt, along with the other 3 you mentioned, would represent a pretty significant voting block.

No, I think of this as the contingent of UL fans who want to "get the old gang back together bunch". Fortunately, there are plenty of UL fans that realize that nostalgia is not always a good thing. There is a very small minority of Cincy fans that suffer from the same affliction, but not nearly as severe as the handful of UL fans that want to "get back to the late 80s to early 90s".
