That sounds a lot like us (Louisville) in the 60's-80's

All it took for us was 1 hire. We had the guts to hire someone that people said we could never get....

Howard Schnellenberger, 2 years removed from winning the NC

Everything changed then. And it can happen to any of these other programs that have been mentioned here. But they have to do better than West type HC's, and they HAVE TO be willing to pour lots and lots of money into the upgrade. A fresh coat of paint on the stadium wont cut it.

It takes A LOT more than that. But imo it can happen, even at a place like Memphis, UAB. Tulane, etc.

Boo hoo hoo. You couldn't stand that facts don't support any of your garbage trash talk,so you come up with this junk. Get over yourself. Pitt sucks and will always and forever be Penn states little sister.

Should Pitt just drop sports all together? I think so.
No one in Pittsburgh really cares anyway. Have you seen one of their Bball games on TV. No support whatsoever. They should just become a satellite branch for Penn state.

Completely disagree. At least Pitt is in a BCS conference while Memphis is begging the BE for an invite.

Doesn't your big brother draw almost 3-4 times the amount of fans that Memphis does?

This says all you need to know about Memphis' dedication, or lack thereof, to football. This is ex-HC Tommy West's press conference after his firing. He's actually not a bad coach. His job was essentially turd polishing for his time there. He became the scapegoat. The biggest problem is the fact that Memphis does not fund football sufficiently. They have a ton of potential but they've chosen to focus on bball.

West Virginia should relegate itself to FCS (I-AA) football.
No national championships? Why not get national championships for the rest of your school's history forever!?

I would take that opportunity any day!

I just figured since miko33 puts up ridiculous posts about memphis and bashes them every chance he gets for no apparent reason that I would do the same.

If I had been there in that press conferance I would have applauded him as he left the podium.

Maybe UCF should relocate to FCS. At least we have BCS bowl wins. What has your school ever done?

Have a look at the board right now.

Come on, does anyone NOT GET A JOKE when it smacks them in the face?

I can't believe the lack of sense some people have.

Maybe you should have a talk with west and togc about posting ridiculous crap about ECU. ECU is head and shoulders above Memphis. Football drives the bus and they clearly outdraw Memphis and have a better history.
