Sale of beer at WVU approved
It looks like the WVU BoG agreed with Oliver Luck, and not the majority of WVU fans who weighed in on the subject in reply to articles written about the plan. Interesting...

Beer Sales Approved At WVU Sporting Events
The Smoking Musket Wrote:As reported by us on Twitter yesterday, the amendment to Policy 18 to allow beer sales at WVU sporting facilities (namely Mountaineer Field and the WVU Coliseum) was approved by the Board of Governors today by a 10-5 margin.

Here are some quick details of the plan:
I think some people will be very surprised at how this - and a few policy changes - will change some obnoxious fans behavior for the better...

Of course there is always that small percentage of true jerks. But that's mankind's cross to bear...

I disagree...the true idiots will get drunk and be obnoxious no matter what. This will be a revenue maker for WVU...if they are smart beer sales will be cut off by the start of the 4th Q.

According to the article, last call was the midway point of the 3rd quarter...

Some insurance company probably just sold WVU (and the state) a huge/expensive policy.

Lord help visiting fans or WVU Fans with young children hat show up for football games in Morgantown!

The drunk jerks are going to be drunk jerks anyway. Folks get trashed before the game, and students sneak little bottles of liquor into the games anyway. Even the concession dude that walked around selling soda would yell out "get your mixers here!!" Anybody who wants to be drunk at the game was already drunk at the game.

This will be a big money maker.

With the new rules, a lot of halftime tailgating will disappear, unless those fans are no longer interested in the game. Anyone leaving the stadium at halftime ain't getting back in...

Probably a bad idea, but the money pressures made it inevitable.

I used to hate the Citrus Bowl for selling beers when I was a student. I'd spend $70 on beer I in no way needed instead of sobering up throughout the game like I do now.

You wanting to get a family sized jug before you head to your seats to keep you going through the game?

That's exactly right. This is going to cut down on problems and make money. The passes that are given out at halftime for folks to get a second round of tailgating will be a thing of the past.

Jackson

Most schools down South did away with "half-time pass out" 20 plus years ago.

Jackson, I figure there will still be a percentage that would rather go out and party, especially if the game looks to be over by halftime. But this will eliminate the majority of it...

In all seriousness, the only thing I could imagine making a trip to Morgantown worse for fans of the visiting teams would be a zombie apocalypse. I stopped going to games in Morgantown years ago because of the imbeciles. Allowing them to continue to drink during the game is a terrible idea. I give it a year or two before there is a serious alcohol related incident.
