If 10 gets us the most on the upcoming TV contract negotiations, then 10 it will be. However, it may or may not come in time for the 2012 season...

Today Louisville controls 85% of its TV market and 35% or 40% of the State of KY's market. Things change. I think you have an agenda, it seems to me that by the time ECU would enter Big East football, they would exceed UConn significantly in football attendance. So since UConn has no real competation in the college ranks, why can UConn not draw 50,000 plus fans. Looks like the good people of Conn. do not care much for UConn football.

If ECU had one AQ team to compete against like Louisville-Kentucky, I would agree with you, but they don't. They have 4 other teams, 2 of which draw bigger attendance than they do. They will forever be in the shadow of the ACC.

BTW, I learned long ago when someone attacks the other side in an argument it simply means that their ability to argue the substance is weak. I don't have an agenda any more than you do. But feel free to take pot shots. 04-bow

Just a comment on the NY-TX axis.

The connection between these 2 states was built on Texas' oil & Wall Street's big money. I don't really see Syracuse, 250 miles from Wall Street really fitting these historic ties.

Should TV contract define the makeup of our conference? Or should we dictate our worth.

Regardless of the value, we must have products to sell. You can debate all you want about quality over quantity but you must have something first before you can sell. Having 10 give us numbers that we need to produce some quantity of contents which is very importance. The question is which the best the option for the tenth spot is.

Well, doesn't that depend on the TV contract & how many games they want to broadcast? If the deal is for 45 games, then I agree that 10 makes sense. However, when it goes beyond 10, there are diminishing returns.

TV sensationalism: Find a wedge issue, build on it and advertise it to death. As to the technicality of Syracuse being 250 miles from NYC, the average Joe does not care. Besides, a large portion of the Syracuse student body/alumni reside in NYC/LI.

I know UConn fans try to minimize the Syracuse fanbase in NYC, but, oh, well. UConn and Syracuse both draw students and fans in NYC. Neither is in NYC. Build on it, the Big East needs it!
