Rice series
I hope we keep the series with Rice going. They appear to be a program moving forward, and that is a good type of program to be playing. Kazemi, their Iranian post player, averaged a double/double and is a bona fide star in CUSA. Ben Braun is a big time coach. I vote we keep playing them.

I'll second that. I still have a soft spot for old SWC foes from my younger days!

Do we have a series with Rice? I know we played them as part of the Las Vegas tourney last season.

If I remember correctly we did have a home and home series with Rice a few years ago. Remember when the loss to them at home in the year we won 23 was a killer to our post-season resume? But I think the deal last year was just part of the Vegas Tournament and was a stand alone.

RE: Rice series
We have played them three of the last four years, it looks like. The schedule says we played them at Houston last year just before the tournament. The teams we played in LV were Akron, ORU and Stetson.

The Rice game was part of that so-called "tournament". Just a way to get some exempt games that don't count against your schedule. But, since many DI schools do this, I hope we can continue to find these type of tourney's to get into. Who knows, maybe playing 3 games in 3 days in Vegas helped us for the Sun Belt tournament grind. Maybe in this case "what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas" didn't apply.
