ECU has committed NCAA violations, will disclose details today
So are all of the ECU and BE fans who have been having fangasims over the UCF allegations now going to claim that ECU has been removed from Big East consideration as a result of their transgressions, or will the hypocrisy continue?

NCAA Violations

RE: ECU has committed NCAA violations, will disclose details today
These are baseball team violations that happened last year. They were self reported and dealt with internally.

There really isn't too much to this.

""A source told WRAL that the investigation involved several baseball
players a year ago."

"This has to do with the baseball team: Last March freshman
infielder Bryan Bass and freshman pitcher Tyler Joyner were
suspended indefensibly (?) for violating team rules. Then on April
2nd, 2010 junior pitcher Stihl Sowers and shortstop Dustin
Harrington were dismissed from the team for violating unspecified
team rules."

in all fairness to UCF's probation...are abuses were self reported and the coaches sent packing...how is ECU's case different from UCF's?

And I don't believe for one second these allegations have affected our status as an expansion candidate. Unless there's reason to believe we're the next SMU (or I guess now we can start substituting OSU with them), they don't care about NCAA infractions. It's about money, plain and simple.

Our violations were a few student athletes who were caught cheating.

UCF's violations were recruiting violations committed by coaches.

From WITN:

http://www.witn.com/sports/headlines/ECU...37539.html

East Carolina University has been put on a one year probation by the NCAA after four baseball players and a women's tennis player committed academic fraud.

ECU is also getting a public reprimand and censure, and three of those athletes are ruled permanently ineligible to play. The university must also vacate all wins in which the athletes competed in the 2009-10 season.

See link for complete story:

There's a world of difference between this and what UCF is being accused of.

No smack, this is legitimate news about a Big East candidate and a legitimate question. We have confirmed violations here not simply allegations, if UCF was off the table for an allegation (according to ECU fans). Then I would assume logic leads us to ECU being taken off the table for their CONFIRMED violations.

UCF doesn't suspend players for academic fraud.
UCF suspends and kicks players off the team for not showing up to class.

Com'mon, we're all C-USA, so let's stop this non-sense.

ECU catches a lot of crap from the Carolina "sisters."
UCF catches a lot of crap from the Florida "sisters" and, now, pathetic Louisville homies who write for sports outlets and can't accept UCF taking any local Louisville talent (regardless of how many Louisville plucks from central and south Florida).

I doubt the Big East cares about ECU Baseball. But, that Tennis Player will just disgust them.

This was a joke by the way.

RE: ECU has committed NCAA violations, will disclose details today
http://www.ecu.edu/cs-admin/news/ncaa.cfm

"The NCAA accepted ECU’s investigation of the violations and its findings rather than conducting its own inquiry. In its letter informing ECU of the penalties, the NCAA noted it chose to reduce the term of probation from two years to one because of ECU’s response and because of immediate steps the university took to improve compliance."

More details inside our release......

Figured I'd post this paragraph:

Conference USA gave ECU a vote of confidence.

“We are pleased with the way this difficult situation was managed,” said Britton Banowsky, C-USA commissioner. “The university took swift and decisive action to not only address the immediate issue, but put safeguards in place to prevent it from happening again. Their response was excellent.”
