Alabama game
How many of you are planning on making the trip down? Any one staying in Tuscaloosa?

I hope a lot of you come down. It's going to be a very emotional weekend for sure. We can use all the visitors we can get so please don't let this tornado deter your plans

Tuscaloosa is a fun college town and Bryant Denny Stadium is a great place to watch a game.

RE: Alabama game
Thanks for the invitation. I have no doubt that a game at ‘Bama is something else. I only hope Coach Saban remembers his days as Flash and takes mercy on us.

I hope Tuscaloosa and the Tide community recovers from those recent devastating storms.

I'm sure other Bama fans will chime in but here's my recs for places to eat while you're in town. There are lots of restaurants but I would focus on these

Restaurants

$$
Chuck's Fish - upscale but fun restaurant downtown serving fresh fish/steaks/sushi
Cypress Inn - cool atmosphere on the river across from campus
Dreamland BBQ - decent ribs but great local atmosphere w/ football history oozing all over. Definitely worth a stop
[Image: kurt-schaffer-2.jpg]
$
Ramma Jamma's - right behind stadium. Good burgers
Mugshots - great burgers / fun restaurant downtown
Buffalo Phil's - ok food but great location on the strip next to campus. Go here before the game for sure
Waysider - legendary Tuscaloosa breakfast spot

Bars

Afternoon drinks (on the strip next to campus)
Houndstooth - patio
[Image: houndstooth-sports-bar.jpg]
Bear Trap - upstairs deck
Buffalo Phil's - patio

Night
downtown is geared toward older (21+) crowd and all bars are close by. There are a lot so you can just bar hop.

Bars on the strip are great too. Again, you can bar hop but I prefer The Houndstooth, Red Shed, Gallettes/Campus Party Store and The Bear Trap.
Gallettes/Campus Party Store has exceptional eye candy but gets packed late. Go early, get a wristband, go to other bars then come back.

Gameday:

Not sure if you were in a fraternity, but each chapter will be having food, drinks and bands before the game and on Friday night.

Gallettes/Campus Party Store - again, tons of girls hanging out before the game

Buffalo Phil's and Houndstooth- both popular option for hanging out before the game

I hope this helps! Feel free to pm me if you have specific questions. Any of you Kent State fans are welcome to send me a message and I'll do my best to help you out. ROLL TIDE!

Dreamland BBQ definitely looks like the place for me. Thanks for the great guide. When Alabama comes to visit Kent State in 40 years I'll be sure to make a guide for you as well!

I will be a HUGE Kent State fan that day. Good luck and remember you have to beat the SEC officials as well as the Criminal Turds.

What is the date of this game? If it does not interfear with us I may be willing to attend and wear Kent State colors and cheer for you guys. This would be a great win for the Golden Flashes if you could pull it off.

RE: Alabama game
If we somehow win that game that would probably be the single biggest win in KSU football history. Only thing bigger would be a bowl win (even then it would probably be smaller) or a win against OSU (which would be the best win of all time). But I understand the idea. An UAB fan would want to see Bama put down as much as we want to see OSU go down. Hope you get to go and of course I hope we win (I just won't hold my breath or anything)!

If you don't think you can win don't schedule the game. UAT never thought they would lose to ULM and Louisiana tech twice, (three times if you count forfeited games...LOL) Houston would have beaten them without the SEC officials help. When the game is close look for some head scratching calls or worse "no calls" from the officials to keep you down.

For a million bucks a game, we’re trying to see if we can be ‘Bama’s perennial home opener.

Attalla, what's your problem? I started this thread to help out the Kent State fans who are making the trip. It was all positive and had nothing to do with UAB.

RE: Alabama game
I know there are not many students on campus and everything, but I think Kent should do something for this game. Saban is a golden flash, and they are doing us a favor with this paycheck. The least we could do is try to get some money together and present a check to them before the game or at halftime. I've read the story on that tornado in Sports Illustrated multiple times and everytime I feel I want to be down there helping rebuild or with something. I know the athletic department has zero money to spare, but something should be given.
