Wow. See what happens when you elect a spokesmodel as a leader?

I'ts clear this guy wants things to get worse, not better.

Good point.. the current borders have been extremely effective at keeping the peace.

Another logical fallacy b/c there is no sensible reason to support this.

Precisely how do you propose a mechanism for peace through appeasing the side that has refused to participate in serious negotiations for 60+ years and continues to launch targeted terror attacks on civilians? Are you as dumb as our President?

And yet he will still get the Jewish vote in 2012. Go figure.

Israel doesn't participate in serious negotiations either.

Israel has made plenty of concessions over the years.

So that's wrong too.

Meanwhile, Palestinians and Arabs (and journalists) do pretty well when in Israel. The reverse is not true.

Using this logic Obama should be telling the US to give the southwest back to Mexico. Never mind.

That's comical to suggest Israel has been any more willing to work for peace than the Palestinians.

Israel gave back the Sinai peninsula to achieve peace with Egypt. They unilaterally left Gaza. They are not pushovers, but they're not rubes either. The power with the Palestinians rests with Hamas, and their charter is openly anti-semitic (i.e. talks openly about the virtue of killing Jews and quotes from the Protocols of the Elders of Zion). There is no comparison, no matter how strong your desire for revisionist history may be.

Go back to Clinton's last peace summit between the two, see what was offered Arafat, then come back and apologize for being so ill informed.

http://beapatriot.wordpress.com/2011/05/...aeli-rule/

Quote:Easily one of the most contentious issues in the Israeli-Palestinian conflict and the Israeli-Arab conflict at large is the status of Jerusalem. The city is holy to three religions: Judaism, Christianity, and Islam, and is claimed by at least two national movements to be its capital, Israel and the Palestinians.

Israeli Arabs vehemently oppose any settlement – such as an exchange of land between Israel and the Palestinian Authority – which would transform them into Palestinian subjects, denying them Israeli citizenship.

A sizeable number of Jerusalem Arabs prefer to remain under Israel’s sovereignty, according to a January 12, 2011 public opinion poll conducted by The Palestinian Center for Public Opinion. The poll was commissioned and supervised by the Princeton-based Pechter Middle East Polls and the NY-based Council on Foreign Relations.

They might know something a little more than you about the "Palestinians" that "just want their own country. If Israel did this, no Christian or Jew would ever be allowed to visit Jerusalem.

Obama is a f'n idiot.

I wasn't talking about peace with Egypt. And they still build settlements in the occupied areas when and where they please. And it continues after Hamas (or whoever) agrees to stop their attacks for some time and talks are supposedly occurring. So for the Palestinians nothing is gained when they stop attacking. I am not a revisionist.

Complain about Jimmy Carter all you want as a President, but he spent time in the occupied territories so he has a better idea what has been happening then most. I doubt it's changed much today.

I guess you'd have felt the same way back before 1861?

Israel deserves to survive. They're the only democracy in the region. THEY are doing it right while everyone else is trying to push them into the sea, all the while getting vocal support from the idiot in chief of OUR country.

No, Jimmy just hates the Jews like a lot of other "progressives".

Pre-1967 borders... Current borders... As if either scenario will make any significant difference. None of us will live long enough to see lasting peace in that corner of the world.

Too much bad history and grudges, with few willing to forgive, compromise and move on. In that region, perceived wrongs that happened centuries ago are treated like it happened last year.

I still support negotiations and bilateral concessions to at least keep violence down to "sporadic" as opposed to "constant." But that area will always be firework mayhem.

RE: Obama tells Israel to retreat to '67 borders
I think I've stated my position of not caring for the state of Israel, but I have three comments regarding this issue.

1. We are dealing with a sovereign nation. No matter who he thinks we are, we do not have the authority to draw someone's boarders because of someone else's best interests.

2. Even if Palestine and Israel can have mutual sovereignty, they'll find something to fight about. These people have been against each other since biblical times and won't stop just because they each have their own country.

3. It's ironic how we are securing boarders over there while we still have people coming over our's every minute. Let's take care of us.
