Correct on the Jackson kid. Also think Kelley from AA Pioneer committed earlier to a JC. A few of the others may not have grades and there are a lot of guards on the list. Current EMU Roster has 8 + guards already, need some forwards, some that can shoot.

Okay, is there a forward candidate on the list?

RE: Top Dozen Unsigned MI Hoops Seniors
Coach 'solved' his PG problem and now needs to decide how to use his remaining scholarships.

He can use them for a h.s. forward or go the transfer route as there are a number of kids out there (we have a thread on it).

Murphy has coached at Kent and 'Cuse so he should pretty well know of, directly or indirectly, the available transferees from the Big East, MAC, Horizon, A-10, etc. as well as any kids with Michigan roots.

It's time for EMU to start getting back to Michigan or midwest kids, if possible.

The one who is 10th best 'available' quite frankly sounds like a candidate for GLIAC or below.

Believe me, there aren't 40 or 50 MAC-caliber seniors in MI each year.

That's how I think fans get all messed up on recruiting.

It would be best in early November to construct a list of say the top 30 seniors in the state.

Any kid ranked say 16 - 30 should be a 'MAC-caliber' candidate.

Otherwise, one ends up with a 'shopping list' full of GLIAC candidates.

If Murphy can get a kid ranked 11 - 15 then he is definitely 'achieving' as a recruiter.

DOES ANYONE KNOW IF SPENCER PARKER FROM WEST BLOOMFIELD HS IS STILL OUT THERE (UNCOMMITTED)?

KID IS 6'7, HAD GREAT NUMBERS, CAN'T BELIEVE HE ISN'T BEING RECRUITED BY SOMEONE DIV I.

Are you sure he is a D-I caliber player.

W. Bloomfield isn't exactly a hoop talent incubator.

Apparently Florida Atlantic has an interest in Parker.

I think there is a lot of grabbing at straws, er, recruits.

Let's hope that Murphy is a good recruiter and shoots higher then marginal D-I propsects.

Murphy isn't going to be successful unless he brings in some recruits that we believe he couldn't get here.

We'll find out soon enough as the spring signing period expires on May 18. So far its Harper and that's it. We should also get a press release that will confirm Tenharmsel and Washington's status ie LOI releases or non releases.

IF Murphy doesn't add any more bodies to the roster for the upcoming season it will be a very dismal season indeed for 2011-2012. My prediction is that attendance which basically stinks already could actually go down some more.

TOUGH TO ADD PEOPLE THIS LATE. COULD BE A TRANSFER OR TWO, PLENTY OF THEM OUT THERE.

MY CONCERN IS THE FRONT COURT NEXT SEASON, WHO PLAYS FORWARD, WHO REBOUNDS? IT WOULD APPEAR THAT THE CURRENT ROSTER IS GUARD HEAVY, LOOKS LIKE HE WILL BE PLAYING A 2 GUARD OFFENSE WITH SIMS, GREEN, DAILEY AND THOMPSON AT THE WINGS.

I'D BE SURPRISED IF HE SIGNS ANYONE ELSE FOR NEXT SEASON BUT WE'LL SEE.

RE: Top Dozen Unsigned MI Hoops Seniors
While I could understand him keeping two scholies for next year I have a hard time just writing off this upcoming season which if we don't sign anyone is just what it looks like we're doing. That would give him 5 scholies for 2012-2013, certainly enough to rebuild the team.

At this point, EMU looks like the worst team in the entire MAC for next year.

Dennis, if you are right on transfer(s) then that is how Murphy will go above and beyond what Ramsey was able to do.

Hell, I'd like to see Murphy get two transfers now and more next November or April. The more the merrier. At least they are presumably proven D-I talent. 03-snooty

Matter of fact the analogy is to English and football with LThomas, Marrow 04-chairshot, Pollard, etc. (Don't hold the fact that Marrow 'never unpacked his bags' against English - he didn't leave EMU because of English but to go with his father).

A HC who can use his previous employment ties to bring in good transfers is a step up on the competition.

I'd like a transfer big man and maybe save the last scholarship rather then give it to a kid who is borderline I-A or maybe GLIAC talent.

And, yes, 2011/2012 will be very difficult if we are building for 2012/2013.

But then again, we are giving English 3 years to get his team built so Murphy is entitled to at least 2 or 3.

Just a comment on football, outside of Thomas there weren't any other transfers from Louisville. There have been a few transfers some have worked out some haven't. While in basketball a few good transfers could make a difference we'll have to wait and see.

Here's a listing of Michigan seniors or Michigan connected seniors from ESPN, it should be updated ie Anderson is going to U of D etc, but gives you a good idea of where the players are headed:
