Wow, whats the deal with Jacobo and Walden? They were both good players, and yes, Walden did hit a game winner against ETSU.

This hurts, but we do have Adam Pegg and the other dude coming on, after sitting out a year.

My question is this:

Could anyone provide some ideas on why these 3 decided to leave Stetson? I realize it's a new coach and new philosophy, but what could possibly be the reason 2 of them left for community colleges (!) and Ridge going to Lincoln Memorial?

I mean, is the situation there THAT bad?...that they wanted to leave so badly?

Personally, I think I'd rather play D1 ball in a legitimate conference, than bailing and going off to tim-buck-too.

But what do I know....

If you look at the schools that they transfered to it should be obvious why they left. You don't see legit D-1 players transfer to Juco's. Both of the frosh would have had plenty of options. You have to take care of work in the classroom to get on the floor.

Walden has committed to Eastern Kentucky for the 2012-13 season.

It is too early to make bold predictions based on a weekend. All I will say is that it would be great for a sun-to have Stetson "return". There were some heated Mercer / Stetson game on the diamond a few years back.

Cory Walden, Steve Forbes, and Luis Jacobo were dismissed because of academic issues. Cory and Steve will be at Brevard CC. Luis will be at CFCC. Ridge was dismissed for a student conduct issues.

I'm not quite sure how the new coach plans to replace 3 of their 4 top scorers from last year.

Naburgs and Petterson return and transfers Adam Pegg and Chris Perez finally get a chance to play, but I don't see where the buckets will come from.

Does anyone have any info on Amara Thompson, the transfer from UCF? I didn't even hear about this until i checked out their roster. I suppose he's gotta sit out for a year? How highly recruited was this guy when he joined UCF?

Thompson was a walk-on at UCF (about 1 ppg, maybe) and he's a walk-on at Stetson. Likely little impact there.

Corey Walden broke his foot and will miss the year for Brevard CC. He'll have 3 years to play at Eastern Kentucky. Wonder if it was the same foot he broke towards the end of the regular season last year at Stetson. He also missed most of his senior year of HS with a broken wrist. Injury prone.

Stetson shakes off a big early deficit to clobber Division II Flagler 90-72 in its exhibition game. First I was all like "this sucks" and then I was like "OK we're coming back" and then I was all like "woo look at Stetson score a lotta points" and then I went home.

They beat Flagler by 1 more point than UNF did, so...yeah, that probably doesn't mean anything. It was cool to win and win comfortably though.

Regular season opener next Friday at home against Bethune-Cookman.
