Tobias, maybe. But that's OK. I'm sure that leaves a spot open for another Missouri recruit.

You did realize who heads up our atheltic department?
Although Josh has demonstrated his desire to stay at Memphis by turning down more money offered by an AQ school(s), I am not ready to state that under no circumstances would he leave our program. I think he goes to Arizona, if offered. Josh is not the type to hold grudges.

Harris and Hopson seized the opportunity to escape Knoxville.

this was worth more than all the twittering columnists, not to mention radio "scoops"
they're all selling hype and being the first to a story, and it influences what they say and how they say it
Without the contract extension, Miller might have accepted the Maryland job.

as best as I can tell, these were the top guys we were thought to be in or pursuing on for 2011, and we wanted most of them
Adonis
Quincy Miller
Tony Wroten
Trevor Lacey
Rakeem Christmans
Ky Madden
Otto Porter
LaQuinton Ross
Johnny O' Bryant
Tyler Adams
DJ Gardner
And, seriously, you get offended being called egghead?

Some of those names I dont agree with, such as Otto. I really wanted Porter and he never seemed much of a priority to Memphis, mainly because he was locked into Mizz with Anderson. And I remember reading a long time ago that we had quit going after Lacey.

The bottom line is if Arizona loses Miller and decides to offer their job to Pastner...he is gone.
Can anyone here really blame him? I certainly would not. That is his home; his alma mater. It is his DREAM opportunity. He would be their version of "Larry Finch" coming back to the program. He will do well there and coach until he is 55 or so.
MEMPHIS will hire a coach who wants to take these players in THIS program and with the support of THIS fan base. Keep in mind the NEXT new coach would have these advantages:
- not following meglamaniac Fredo and his 131-13 four year run.
- not having to wonder about possible NCAA sanctions courtesy of Fredo.
- following a first time coach who rebuilt the program in 2 years.
- inheriting an exterienced team with two very nice additions (Thomas and Simpson).- know the full support - financial, facility, recruiting - is there both from huge boosters and FedEx.
- play in a state of the art facility that is packed for virtually all home games.
- compete in a conference that is not overly competitive that MEMPHIS has dominated since 2005.
- Once you win big here, you will make around $2.5 - $3mm annually at a "non power" school.
If Pastner leaves, the new BB coach search will be done before August 1.
ok so we know Josh isn't leaving.
There were a couple of holes in your theories that I wanted to talk out.
First, Pastner played his basketball at Arizona, true.
But, unlike Larry Finch, he was not a stud player. He did not captivate the entire city as he was playing as Finch once did.
So no, he would NOT have been their Larry Finch....apples and oranges.
Two, what makes you think we would have kept all of our players had Josh chosen to leave?
Adonis could have asked for release from his letter of intent....Will B could have declarfed for the draft or asked for a transfer.....you just never know.

"Christmas," porter, job, miller maybe.. After the 2010 guys there's no way we were recruiting more than one pg or sg to come in.. Wroten wasn't coming here, lacy I'm hearing is a classroom liability, and unless madden is that much better than ab or Joe then why recruit him hard?
Another big or two sounds about right.. But miller and bello were baylor leans forever, Ross was always Ohio st's to lose he committed real early.. Tyler Adams already decommitted from duke sounds sketchy already.. Porter was a gtown lean, and christmas was big east bound no matter what.. Maybe job was a miss we could've had, but honestly look at him now we didn't miss much if we're committed to being all in on stokes for next year.
All of the 2010 class back, and carmouche on board, minus jk, there wasn't room for any other guards even if will went pro maybe one spot.. 2012 is the class we can't miss on, 2011 was Adonis or bust and one fill in the blank for Coleman..

They got swept by Miss State in baseball this weekend, so yes they did. UTK has done too good a job a sucking recently. That river is getting way to high.
