One small problem

Those twitter "quotes" are NOT Brandon Bender's Twitter account! It's a fake account run by a Louisville fan.

But why should a reporter check their "facts"?

They report it because UM has an axe to grind with Donnie Jones, and oh yeah, ECU believes repeating it will improve their position in the BEast expansion. That's why.

Yea, I agree that the author needs to do better research.

It is incredible that no one has been able to prove that money exchanged hands between UCF and these "runners". Maybe a real investigation will prove it.

You better hope he made up the part about the NCAA investigators looking around last week and then coming to town this week.

Or maybe nothing happened and a goose chase is going on. I wouldn't be surprised to see the NCAA drop the hammer on us instead of UA, OSU, UConn, or Oregon though. Time will tell and no opinions on the situation should be made since no true facts have come out yet.

Here's the biggest problem with this whole issue. When the NCAA digs deeper, I'm almost sure that this is only the tip of the iceberg. Just from these few days-while UCF is the main suspect-these guys been linked to Kentucky, possibly Duke. If Cal was involved, then you almost have to dig as far back as his days at Memphis and possibly UMass. And the same with Jones at Marshall. This might be the NCAA's version of the steroids scandal with MLB, where everybody is involved. There is simply too much money from TV deals and whatnot for this stuff to not to happen. Even casual fans are guilty in a way. If you're a season ticket holder or donate in any fashion, do not friend recruits on facebook and other social media networks and encourage them to go to your school. The NCAA can nitpick those actions and say boosters are talking to recruits and penalize your school for it.

Neither is the John Calipari account. All he had to do was read the description on the account:

There were about two sentences of new, legitimate info in that article.

This. You never want the NCAA hanging around a program. It's like getting audited by the IRS....things have a way of "turning up". This is why small violations and allegations can be a bad deal...they invariably lead to larger violations being discovered. That, to me, is the most significant point of the story.

Yeah that's pretty terrible that they're quoting twitter in the first place, much less a fake twitter :/

Serious situation for UCF with the NCAA investigating, but Langdon looks the fool there with quoting fake twitter feeds.

It doesn't matter...UCF was smeared and the goal was accomplished... don't expect people on this forum to look into or read any details...

That's the best part of "fake" twitter accounts...is that 99% of the folks realize all comments are meant as jokes...but one not-so-bright reporter falls for it...hook, line and sinker.

Far from it - I'm not "excited" one bit by this......I hope like hell that there is nothing to it, but it is news right now - and God knows everything else gets posted on this forum good or bad about any program even sniffing around expansion......

Fallout from something like this could be dramatic for UCF.....as competitive as we all are in so many regards, the last thing I want to see is major scandal and punishment for a member of our conference......yuck....

this is like porn to ECU, USF, and any other fans in the anti-UCF camp

My bad. I really do not think there is much to this story. It was a smear piece and it was generated out of Louisville..probably fat cat boosters...the story has many facts wrong...the NCAA will exonerate UCF...but by then Lousiville will be playing Nova in a weird looking little soccer stadium in front of 13 k fans...so it is all good!!!

Why are you UCF fans playing the victim card here....You are the ones already on probation and getting ready to be part of another NCAA investigation....If you are clean then you have nothing to worry about. If you are not you will be punished again and rightfully so. I really do not feel sorry for you at this point, your coaching staff brought this on themselves by associating with these questionable characters. Now associating does not mean your guilty of anything wrong but like I said, if you are going to be involved with guys like this then you better be ready to deal with the baggage that may come from that association. If your coaches were smart and did not want them to be involved in any recruiting they should have notified the NCAA of this situation and made ig crystal clear to these parties and recruits that these guys were in no way associated with UCF rather than having them to games and letting them conference you in on calls to recruits. As far as ECU fans taking pleasure in your situation if you are not guilty of any wrongdoing then I truly feel bad for your program because it will be very difficult to shake the image once it is out there. But if it turns out you did committ violations then hell yeah I will be happy that you were caught and punished...

Same thing happened at UF. Nothing was proven.
