My bad. I really do not think there is much to this story. It was a smear piece
and it was generated out of Louisville..probably fat cat boosters...the story has many facts wrong...the NCAA will exonerate UCF...but by then Lousiville will be playing Nova in a weird looking little soccer stadium in front of 13 k fans...so it is all good!!!

I like your confidence but if this same stuff was coming out on ECU I would be very worried. Even if you guys did nothing wrong it has apparently triggered another NCAA inquiry....Now if that inquiry leads to a full blown investigation you better hope your program is squeaky clean because if the NCAA comes to town everything is fair. It is never a good thing when the NCAA is snooping around your program.

UCF is NOT on probation. There were on probation and turned themselves in to the NCAA for some ex-coaches that called a couple of players before the date allowed. The probation ended in 2010. It was a minor violation and O'Leary wasn't aware of it. Those coaches went on to coach at Tennessee.

I'm a Marshall fan but some of the people in Huntington have such an inferiority complex, it's just sad. They will do anything they possibly can to destroy people who they feel have slighted them. I wouldn't put it past the Marshall people to be the ones that dropped the dime on Jones and UCF.

If Marshall dropped a dime, as you say, they were only dropping it on themselves. Any investigation of Jones is going to include his tenure in Huntington, which could spell big trouble for the Herd...

Well I am not sure it is a smear job at this point let's see what the NCAA uncovers. Also I see no reason to be sensitive to the plight of a program that at the very least appears to be walking the line of NCAA rules and may very well be breakinging rules.

I am not saying that it could not happen at ECU but our compliance department is very active and keeps their eyes and ears on our programs very closely. Like last year when our special teams football coach was conducting drills that could be consider out of season illegal work outs with our kickers. They completed an internal investigation, reported to TH and Coach Ruff. This coach was fired and this information was turned over to the NCAA. In turn we reduced the number of fall practices by the number of these out of season work outs. We have also turned ourselves in on some other minor violations over the years that our compliance department uncovered. We are in good standing with the NCAA and they were very satisfied with our institutional control and reactions to these issues thus no NCAA sanctions or probation.

With that said if we have any coaches or players knowingly breaking NCAA rules to gain an advantage in recruiting or on the field I hope they get caught and punished accordingly. I am not a win at all costs kind of guy....If we can not do it on the up and up then I want no part of it and want us punished accordingly. I am not one of those people that feel everyone else is doing so why don't we....Now I know the are a lot of programs out there breaking the rules but that is their decision and I do not want ECU to be that part of College Athletics.

No matter what happens UCF has been damaged in this. If they did wrong I want those responsible fired and let the chips fall where they fall. If they simply swam in the same cesspool that all big time BB programs swim in well they got a bunch of the stink. College BB is probably the dirtiest of all college sports. AAU coaches point kids where they want to point them. Shoe companies hook up with kids early and pay for all the camps they go to. Then they sponsor schools and have AAU coaches send their kids to their schools. and that is the clean side of the deal.

The NCAA did ask around last week, but from what we understand it was standard procedure that happens with any high profile recruits.

I have a feeling though if there were any truth to the allocations, especially the three way calling, UCF would be the ones to self report it as we did when we audited the text messages with those now-tenessee staffers (they were low level employees responsible for booking official visits).
