Not completely official yet, but it appears that Dane Fife has accepted an assistant coaching position at MSU to replace Montgomery...Interesting move, and a good hire by MSU...

"In March, Fife had signed an extension to his current contract that would have kept him in Fort Wayne until the 2016 season, but when Tom Izzo called, Fife couldn’t pass up the opportunity to join him in East Lansing, Michigan. "

I don't know why ADs sign coaches to extensions.

They're not worth the paper they're written on.

That he left is no surprise. The big surprise is that he went to MSU rather then Purdue or EMU (HC).

RE: Dane Fife
Fife has come across the last couple of weeks to be one who felt they had hot coals under their feet. He wanted out of IPFW. I cannot blame anyone the desire to get out of Ft. Wayne, IN.

However, I will be sure to keep an eye on IPFW next season. Will they be good or bad? I am curious to see if perhaps a reason he wanted out is because things did not look good for next season and he was worried his 15-minutes of fame was running out?

Just curious, and no, I have not done any research into the returning talent for IPFW.

RE: Dane Fife
Iowa State program has some issues.

Fort Wayne is a decent town. Note that Sims and Reese are from there. For a town its size it has more than its share of Div I athletes.

There were two guys that Fife and Ramsey may have had a passing interest in Robinson a guard and Wilson a forward from the same Fort Wayne high school.

Although I'm staying out of recruiting, there is a chance that Murphy could have a 'B' target he was recruting at 'Cuse.

When one thinks of it, for every LOI signed there probably are X number of kids who would have signed a 'Cuse LOI if given the opportunity and may still be unsigned.
