NATO - Friendly Fire
http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-africa-12997181
Friendly fire occurs in wars, even civil wars. Yes, NATO has top shelf equipment. Yes, NATO troops are trained as well as anyone in the world. Yes, NATO is helping the Libyan rebels. Do they not expect some casualties from friendly fire?
War is a dangerous business and they want our help, can they not be a little understanding that humans are still involved and will make mistakes? Besides, it's not as if the rebels are using modern equipment designed to be compatible with NATO forces (IFF Equiment/codes and such). Furthermore, we allegedly have no boots on the ground, so we have no forward air controllers or other special forces directing attacks from thr ground/front lines.
Sorry for the rant. I get upset when people think wars are "civil" played by neat, clean rules wherein the casualties are really only in a time out. People forget that many will die or lose their limbs, or their minds. People forget that the fog of war causes many casualties, things happen litterally at and above the speed of sound. This leaves little to no time for thought. The thinking must be done prior to any action.

RE: NATO - Friendly Fire
That's my biggest problem with modern warfare. People are too worried about collateral damage and civi casualties. Its a part of war and when a nation goes too far to protect civis, you're not in it to win it.

RE: NATO - Friendly Fire
In a civil war there is no nation to take care of the people. That's what the civil war is all about, to see who runs the nation. While it's in doubt, the only thing the nation can take care of is protecting itself, and in some civil wars not even that is possible...
