Thanks for the personal slam. Not sure how I was ahypocrite and I certainly didn't cast any stones...just thought UCF fans shouldn't call others out on something similar to their situation. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion and someone posted why it was very different in their mind. I accepted that. They stuck to the subject...why can't you do the same without lowering yourself to personal slams?

You weren't a hypocrite, you were just wrong. UCF is in Orlando about 8 miles from Downtown. Anyone living in the actual city of Orlando can drive to the stadium in under 30 minutes unless there's awful traffic for some reason. The outlying metro areas will take longer of course, but the same could be said for any team located in a major city regardless of where their stadium is located, the only thing you *CAN* control is if it's close to or on your campus.

So fine, just tell me I'm wrong. Why do UCF fans always do the personal slam thing? Slapping a facepalm pic up when you disgree with someone doesn't instantly make you look smarter than someone else. But I've harped on the personal thing FAR too much. Enough of that. 04-cheers

I've been to UCF's stadium. I know how long it takes to drive there. 30 minutes isn't close to downtown. I live 30 minutes from downtown Raleigh. That isn't close. It wouldn't stop me from going to an ECU game if we played here. Just don't think it's a valid thing for UCF fansd to slam Villanova for.

Well they shouldn't have gotten personal, but it was pretty inaccurate. As for it's distance to downtown, I never claimed it was all that close to downtown. It isn't far, I lived downtown for 3 of my collegiate years and had no issues with the distance at all, but it most definitely affects your turnout at games if your stadium is that far from campus. It's a combination of the stadium not truly being yours (huge factor IMO) and definitely affects the student turnout (which makes it feel less like a College Game and more like a pro game IMO).

Just look at USF, they decided to stay at Raymond James, about 30 minutes from campus, and their attendance has stagnated and is lower than UCF's even with the BCS tag. If you've never had a stadium off your campus, you really have no idea how much of a difference it makes with the stadium actually being on your campus. That much I can promise you.

Except UCF's situation is NOTHING similar to Villanova's and UCF stadium is right on campus and UCF owns it fully.

How did this get derailed...

Lot's of good options for Big East but now think I'll have to watch these heated CUSA rivalries next year.

It was an ECU fan who brought this up.

What a switch! Does that mean we need to start calling them the Central North Carolina Golden Pirates? 05-stirthepot

Based on recent information, it looks as though it comes down to the willingness for VU to support the expansion of PPL Park. If VU can pay for it, it looks like they could have enough votes to gain admittance to the BE. If not, it looks like UCF will be on deck. Who knows about the 12 team configuration.
