Nope. Different Belt threads started by different folks.

ASU, UNT, and ULL..3 new teams for the WAC
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Arkansas State University, UNT, and ULL imo will be the newest members of the WAC and Karl not only would land 3 FBS schools from the SBC but vastly improve tv money for a better tv deal with ESPN. I really hope this goes through. Does anyone agree. Please share. GO RUNNERSSSSSSSSS!
We all know how great his source is!

RE: Gotta Luv The WAC Board - Entertaining
This stuff isn't brain surgery. I said for some time I thought Denver would get WAC consideration because you can't travel to a lot of WAC cities without flying through Denver.
The WAC can take advantage of the grace period for football. Nevada and Fresno leave June 30, 2012, that buys the WAC the 2012 season and 2013 season. They might be willing to wait until June 30, 2014 to resolve things having one "out" year. But likely want it resolved in time for 2014, the wait poses unneeded risks.
You have to look at the politics of it all.
If the rumor mill is right, we can figure Seattle is likely soon to be invited. You have to figure the WAC will at least take a look at Utah Valley and Cal State Bakersfield. Looking and inviting aren't the same thing though. Internal politics will determine whether the WAC is going to 9, 10, or 11 with only 7 football.
The WAC is not inviting Lamar, Stephen F Austin, or Sam Houston by the magic date of June 30, 2011 or that date in 2012. The numbers won't let it happen.
San Jose State, Utah State, and Idaho are sufficient to block any expansion and they will be in no rush to add a Texas school. They are going to keep the lines of communication open with Montana, Sacramento State, Cal-Davis, and Cal-Poly. They will keep at least some tabs on Portland State, South Dakota State, and Eastern Washington.
That western bloc possibly with Denver and NMSU on their side are not going to send the WAC further west unless forced to for the survival of the conference and until the deadline is looming they are not going to agree to add another Texas school.

A big question that should concern WAC members is what happens if the Belt opts to got to 11 or 12 for football ? Some of the WAC schools must already be in touch with the Belt because of the WACs shaky status. Right now the Belt looks to be a stable home if your lifeboat is taking on water.

Sounds reasonable.

If, I said IF, the WAC were to add UL, UNT, and ASU, I think they would then add Seattle and stop right there.
EAST
Louisiana
Louisiana Tech
Arkansas State
North Texas
Texas State
UTSA
WEST
New Mexico State
Denver
Utah State
San Jose State
Idaho
Seattle
10 football
12 basketball
The WAC becomes the basis for the new SWC.

No thanks. Would much prefer a 12 team, 2 division Sun Belt over that WAC alignmnet.

RE: Gotta Luv The WAC Board - Entertaining
This is a no-brainer.....stay in the SBC.
SBC East
Troy
USA
MTSU
FAU
FIU
WKU
Proposed WAC WEST
New Mexico State
Denver
Utah State
San Jose State
Idaho
Seattle

Since we are playing with alternatives, try this one. Do like the MAC and have 2 7-team divisions. Idaho and SJSU are too outliers and are not included. UALR finds another conference.
East
MT
Troy
WKU
USA
FIU
FAU
ULM
West
UL
ASU
UNT
LA Tech
NMSU
USU
TX State
And, let's come up with a better name for the conference than either the SBC or the WAC. One has too much of a stigma attached to it and the other is too Western given the Eastern members.

RE: Gotta Luv The WAC Board - Entertaining
I wasn't suggesting a East West conference. I was just comparing teams in the West against teams in the East. That's the no-brainer I referred to.

Not a bad idea if UNT, UL, A State wanted to do an arklatex league; play as few as interdivisional games as possible. Could even bring UALR along.
