So now our application process tests for usage of ad hominem attacks? Good for us.
There are many good UCF fans. It's just insane how many nasty ones you have. The same MO everytime. If they don't like what you have to say they attack you personally.

Well considering there have been 6 UCF posters on this thread, with only 1 going with Ad Hominem attacks, I'd say you've got quite the selection bias there. Not to mention, the only one doing it has a family full of ECU alumni so I'm gonna guess he might have learned that there.

Nice table turning. We only have this thread to base the experience on, huh? We also have to take a 17 time poster for their word that they are from NC? And that their opinion is worthy of judgment of my remarks...or even necessary if this forum? I'm not sure, but it sounds like you're defending his/her personal attack on me. Again, given mine and many other's experience on this and other boards...I'm not surprised to hear this from a UCF fan.

Let's not make this an ECU vs. UCF thread. It's not even on-topic. Haha! Besides...while ECU may be willing to do a football-only...UCF has said that it's not an option. Apex is right that our AD doesn't make the final decision...but he also speaks for those who do and they're all in agreement.

I'm not sure about Houston's president, but Hitt would not allow UCF to accept anything less than a full invite. Uniformity in athletics leads to the largest value of success for individual programs.

RE: Football only? Houston?
I don't think it's even possible for UH to entertain this idea. Where would they put their other sports? Its my understanding that you can't play football in one D1 conference and put your other sports in another D1 conference (whether it is FBS or FCS) if that conference also sponsors football.
In this part of the country, there is no basketball only conference like the Atlantic Sun or West Coast Conference. The South Land Conference and MVC are both Football leagues, hell even the freaking Great West where Houston Baptist play is football. Unless I'm missing something, the closest a Texas team could do for basketball only is the freaking Summit league which features such teams as Oral Roberts, Centenary, UM-KC, Southern Utah, North Dakota State and IU-PU-Fort Wayne.
Pretty sure that'd be a "thanks but no thanks" situation.

Those teams on an NCAA basketball schedule screams: "National Championships are cool, but annual conference championships are better. Who cares if we're one-and-done every year for the rest of our program's existence?"

IIRC, the MVC is officially a D-I conference that does not sponsor football, and the Missouri Valley Football Conference is technically a separate organization.

Don't forget the amount spent on baseball and basketball staff and assurances to them that we will do everything possible to move them up in conference not back. The chance that UCF takes a football only invite is zero.

Good catch, you are correct...still somehow I don't see the decedents of Phi Slamma Jamma being thrilled about trips to Bradley, Witchita State (Go Shocs! ) Evansville, Southern Illinois and Northern Iowa...

As a fan I would rather stay in CUSA and try to become the next Boise State then have to watch any A-Sun games.
The mass exodus of our coaches would be painful to watch. I like coach Jones and coach Rooney.
Ding!
UCF didn't build a $107 Million 10,000 seat basketball arena plus spend major $$$$ on a new coaching staff, double its recruiting budget, etc...all to "go back to the ASUN".

I'm not turning any table, I'm just pointing out that you're quick to judge a fanbase as a whole because of a few bad posters while disregarding the other fans who haven't started anything. I just used this thread as proof of this, as you pointed out the one bad poster without even mentioning the preponderance of other good UCF posters. Furthermore, it's ironic you expect me to not take his word about his ECU family members/being from North Carolina due to his postcount yet have no problem just lumping him in with us and then deriding the UCF fanbase as a whole based on the same set of criteria.
You have to see the hypocrisy in this...

I've heard this a thousand times and still do not believe that is the route they would take. First, the AD has zero say in what UCF would do. Well, his opinion might be heard but the decision is not his. Secondly, UCF in the Big East for football and somewhere else for all other sports is FAR better than UCF in a raided C-USA. I don't buy the whole basketball arena crap either. IF UCF has the potential that everyone says it does and becomes AQ in football, people will come to see them play basketball no matter what league they are in.
Not going to happen. We're not relegating our other sports to less competitive leagues just for football fans delight. Think what you want but Tribble has a lot of input at UCF between him and Dr Hitt they're the reason why we've made the investments we have.

RE: Football only? Houston?
So it appears that Temple, Army, and Navy are the only viable football only schools. Temple is viable as their other sports including basketball are in the A-10 while football is in the MAC. Navy and Army are viable because they are Armed Services and can do what they please with their other sports. ECU, UCF, UH, Memphis, and SMU can not be football only members as they are not allowed to have their football in on conference while having their other sports in another conference that also plays football. Is this correct or am I missing something?

Can someone answer me a question? Please don't take this in a negative way. I'm not trying to be nasty. I really just want to be educated, since I did not follow Big East football until recently.
Why would the Big East consider Temple for a FB only membership when Temple was voted out of the conference before already.
Or, in other words, why was Temple voted out in the first place, and what has changed since then.

You are missing something. Those schools couldn't leave their other sports in CONFUSA if they took an AQ football-only bid somewhere else, but they could move those other sports to another conference that DOESN'T play FBS football....
