Big East Football 2011: How does your team do?
Because I am from Tampa, and I go to UCF, I'm going say my peace about how I think USF will handle their 2011 football schedule next season:
____________________________
USF's primary recruiting focus was on their offensive line this past off-season. Protection for B.J. Daniels is crucial to air it out on offense. But B.J. blew it when it came to facing up to better teams (just ask UF, West Virginia, and UConn). Honestly, with the weak OOC schedule they
had last season, which was fortunately balanced out by UF, I didn't expect anything more than a miserable season.
This year will be different. With their admirable run in the Big East, and the defeat of an ACC opponent in the Meineke Bowl, their 3rd straight bowl win was secured.
Game 1 - @Notre Dame (September 3rd, 2011 - Saturday)
Result: 24-31 (L)
- Notre Dame had a very strange year last season: losing to Michigan State, then later on beating a ranked Utah team? You win against Pittsburgh, but lose to Tulsa by 1 at home? I think Notre Dame is more focused than ever to make it to a BCS bowl.
Game 2 - Ball State (September 10th, 2011 - Saturday)
Result: 31-10 (W)
- This is Ball State. Never mind that a little more than a decade ago, they were ranked. This is the MAC. Show no mercy.
Game 3 - Florida A&M (September 17th, 2011 - Saturday)
Result: 34-3 (W)
- Florida A&M plays for the MEAC. Why is a Big East football program scheduling FCS programs again? I don't know. A&M did split the MEAC with BCU and South Carolina State. If that means anything. USF handles them, easily.
Game 4 - UTEP (September 24th, 2011 - Saturday)
Result: 30-14 (W)
- I am throwing my C-USA bias out of the picture, but in all honesty, when UTEP comes to the Sunshine State...hell when UTEP goes ANYWHERE away from El Paso, not a good sign for them. UTEP is not known for football. They scare people with an early TD, but do nothing else. USF dominates.

You must have forgotten to look at the entire season. I fully expect double digit wins for WVU this season...

How do you think your local Big East team will do?
First of all, they play Miami as well as Notre Dame. That's a solid enough OOC right there. Some BCS AQ teams don't play good teams at all.
Second of all, TONS of programs play 1-AA teams. Miami has played FAMU several times over the past decade, so are you going to demonize them?
Finally, Notre Dame lost against an 11 win Michigan State team because of a trick play in overtime. That's not at all embarrassing.

As for UConn, I am not optimistic.
