For anyone who is interested, here's a link to the press conference today introducing Porter Moser as the new Head Coach at Loyola University of Chicago. Porter is a class act!

Porter is an outstanding young coach. I will be very surprised if he does not eventually land at a Big Six program - unless he finds his niche somewhere else and just wants to stay there.

Prior to Porter being considered for this job I had never heard of Loyola Chicago so I google information about the school. I'm glad I did because I learn some good American history. See the below article:

Looking forward to seeing how Porter does. I'll be following the Ramblers from now on.

His prospects improved by losing his head coaching job, and being able to work a few seasons with Rick Majerus. What seemed to be a negative, turned out to be a positive. I'll certainly be a Loyola fan as long as Porter is there. He was always one of my favorites.04-cheers

That press conference was way long. The AD spoke about a much as Porter did :o
Porter has infectious enthusiasm and energy. I can only imagine what he could have done now that we play on campus.
He must have said the word "passion" 100 times.

I felt the closest to the program and have never been more excited about UALR when Coach Moser was here. Those breakfasts were awesome. Video clips, complete with slo-mo, scouting reports, and Coach even knew most of us by name.

I'm a big Coach Moser fan.

I too enjoyed those breakfasts. I am also a big Porter Moser fan. I thought Porter had so much enthusiasm and it was catching, and he reminded me somewhat of Newell with his enthusiasm. Wasn't quite as cocky as Mike. But as the great Cardinal Hall of Fame pitcher Dizzy Dean once said when asked about his bragging or his boasting, "it ain't bragging if you can do it." Newell did it here.

I think he's got Mike beat with regards to being a "used car salesman". How many coaches go 51-67, get fired, and then get hired at a school from better conference. No Mike can't hold a candle to Porter when it comes to the BS department. I'd have to check, but I bet Mike's record at Lamar was a lot better than 51-67. No doubt his record at UALR was a lot better than Porter's. But, for whatever reason, he couldn't get another DI job.
