UConn not to be outdone...UK staffer caught in the cookie jar with Cousins...
what is this coming to, clean side...Butler/VCU vs. dirty side...UK/UConn and on the eve of the Final Four. College athletics you gotta love it.

Former Kentucky staffer broke NCAA rules

As the college basketball universe gathers for the Final Four in this burgeoning city, controversial Kentucky coach John Calipari once again finds himself at the center of it.

In just his second season with the Wildcats, he has rejuvenated the tradition-rich program from the depths of missing the NCAA tournament in 2009 for the first time in 18 years and guided it to its first Final Four since its 1998 national championship behind another one of his celebrated freshman classes.

In doing so, Calipari has become just the second coach to take three different programs to the Final Four, although his appearances with Massachusetts and Memphis were stricken after violations of NCAA rules during his watch were later discovered. His fourth-seeded Wildcats (29-8) play third-seeded Connecticut (30-9) on Saturday in the national semifinals

You are on a roll aren't you? It would not surprise me one bit if some hack from the media find a list of dirty laundry just as long at UL. Unfortunately UCONN and UK are in the limelight now and media is like vultures looking for a fresh angle. This kind of crap happens all the time in today's AAU basketball. Anyone who thinks otherwise should get a reality check.

1. It wouldn't surprise me but for this to come out on the eve of the Final Four is just crazy.

2. It PayCal, UMass, Memphis and now UK.

3. A UConn fan defending PayCal...wow.

Not defending PayCal at all. Cal having something fishy around him does not surprise me one bit.

I guess I just think the media in this country really sucks with sensationalism. Why on the eve of final 4? I guess that's when they can get maximum readership.

I just hope players aren't distracted with this stuff tomorrow.

This is why it's a mistake to fight a coachs' feud in the media. Calhoun has former journalist friends of Calipari at UMass and elsewhere tailing him intensely for any story, which is how the recent UConn violations were reported, and Calipari has people connected with Calhoun and Pitino knocking on doors in every town where Calipari recruits a player looking for a story, which is how the allegations about Bledsoe started. They put each other under much more scrutiny than some coach at Directional Backwater University who doesn't have mortal enemies in the business. I'd heard a rumor that a truce was called, and maybe it has. This story is a bit different than previous ones, because they're self-reported violations from two years ago, and nobody had to go digging. Also, I'm pretty sure this reporter isn't in either side's army. He's just a guy who was told to find a story to publish on the day of the game. Phone calls by a staff member fired years ago will do.

If the money is close to equal when the new deal is done then they made a mistake by leaving their traditional rivals Syracuse, Rutgers & UConn to play in a Southern league & becoming a fish out of water.

@ least TCU shared a conference with USF, UofL & UC but it is what it is.
