RE: App State to CUSA?
The buildings at the main entrance are the old field house. The expansion plan is to tear them down and bowl that end in. The mountain side end zone is the grass bank which has emotional ties for many and will probably stay for a while. Have to admit the track is a engineering nightmare which would probably require lowing the field. Anyhow would you flat landers not enjoy a weekend in our beautiful mountains in the fall.

If there is a 40,000 seat stadium up there, thats fine, but this just looks like one of the nicest Track Stadiums in the country. And if I remember correctly, the stadium seats about 22,000, the rest of those attendances are standing room type...thats not going to cut it.

Programs like ECU, UNC, NC State, or VT wont come unless you can accomodate 10,000 fans...its not like there is a recruiting reason to come. The only place any program of substance may play you is in Charlotte.

Speaking of Charlotte, is App ducking them or do they have a couple games scheduled? I believe they have ODU scheduled.

ECU vs APP in Charlotte would be great.

UNCC I am sure will get there chance at us. They have two years before they play their first game.

Hey nobody said we were going to start at the top but we got to start somewhere. You guys did not get to where you are overnight either. Have to give you credit for what you have done. Really need a offer to Big East.

RE: App State to CUSA?
The only reason anyone needs an offer to the BE is because of BCS revenue distributions.

You'd be surprised the level of sports played in CUSA. It doesnt get the media coverage, because the media is in bed with some of hte AQ leagues and they are like the radio...they play the same 10 songs over and over and over.

In terms of ECU growth...keep in mind that ECU played UNC/NC State among others many, many times at their place until going D-1 and those programs used inadequate facilities as an excuse not to play in Greenville...ECU had a 36,000 seat stadium in the late '70's, went to 43K in 1998 and 50K last year. It wasnt until the 43K expansion that NC State finally came to Greenville.

I'm just trying to put perspective on this, App State's facility is HALF what it would have to be at the CUSA level, considering you are located in Boone.

Its gone silent because it was a rumor started by some App State fans entertaining the fantasy of entering CUSA. Its never going to happen. There are way better options out there if needed. Temple, ODU, MTSU etc and maybe Charlotte 5-7 years down the road. Maybe even an FIU or FAU depending on the circumstance.

If they were able to jump to 1-A some day it would likely be the Mac or Sunbelt. Problem with that is that the Mac nor the Sun Belt wants them either. The Mac is wanting UMass while the Sunbelt is pursuing an FBS school which is more than likely Louisiana Tech. Might be a while until they can realistically make a jump, if ever.

It will take a hell of a lot more money than that to compete at the FBS level.

As revenues rise so do athletic budgets. Any FCS or Sun Belt program that was added to CUSA would automatically see a 50% increase in revenues (TV money, NCAA money, and increased tickets prices). I know the article mentioned tickets would remain constant, but this is simple economics. Close to 30K attend games vs. sisters of the poor FCS teams in Boone, games against opponents the fanbase recoginize and brings fans would increase demand. This is not a direct argument for ASU, just a realistic view of programs current budgets vs. athletic budgets in CUSA.

Much like if UCF or Memphis went to the Big East their budgets would also jump considerably.

Let's see if we can make it simpler for you.

THERE IS NO WAY IN HELL C-USA INVITES APP STATE.

There are at least six teams in line in front of you.

An "infamous" Memphis fan use to say that about UCF in the past too.

Never is a very long time.

Not sure who you're referring to considering UCF started C-USA play in 2005, a year before I started posting on this board.

I was referring to a well-known Memphis poster...as UCF was invited to join CUSA back in 2003...and for several years prior to that he would always state that "no way would UCF ever get a bid to join CUSA and how Memphis would never be a conf member with UCF".

That's all.

You sure do waste a lot of time discussing a program that has no chance at CUSA. Can you see the irony of telling ASU fans to stop wasting their time?

Why don't you take your little troll self over to the Sun Belt board and see if they take pity on you. C-USA is not interested in your pi$$ant little program.

Yes, but none as entertaining as you...

Go ahead get the last word we all know you can't stop posting even if that means responding to an ASU fan that couldn't begin to challenge the wit and intelligence of the all mighty greg.
