Dish Network Drops SNY
http://blog.timesunion.com/sportsmedia/s...fans/6448/

A statement released this afternoon by SportsNet New York after its stalled negotiations with Dish, which dropped the regional network from its programming lineup today:

“Dish Network continues to abandon New York sports fans, now dropping SNY and denying fans SNY’s exclusive coverage of the Mets, Jets and Big East Conference. To find out how to easily switch to a new provider and keep SNY, fans can call 888-9-KEEPSNY or visit http://keepsny.com.”

And YES may be dropped from DirecTV tomorrow. Not as Big East related, but as MLB season starts, its not good.

My guess is that DirecTV will figure out a way to work it out with YES. Sports coverage has always been DirecTV's top selling point and not having YES is a killer in the NYC area. Dish, on the other hand, seems to have conceded having any presence in the NYC market with having never had YES and now dropping SNY.

RE: Dish Network Drops SNY
Dish has dropped all NY regional sports networks. MSG and MSG Plus were dropped in October, SNY today and they've never carried YES.

To be clear, those RSNs extend well beyond the NYC area. Coverage of sports on those networks go as far west as Buffalo, into NEPA, CT and NJ.

Dish Network can forget about the northeast corridor now, which seems like a suicidal move to me...

Dish Network is presently up for sale. I would look for them to merge with Direct TV in the new few months. I am actually surprised it hasn't happened before now.

Not a chance. AT&T has been sniffing around Dish Network.
