I went to KU back in 1997 before I came back to memphis. I rooted for KU as my 2nd team until the 2008 national title game. I cannot bring myself to root for them any more. Just can't. With That Said, the singing of the alma mater into the Rock Chalk Chant is by far the best tradition in all of college basketball. Nothing compares.

Was "rock chalk" the only phrase they could get to rhyme in a cheer with Jayhawk?
What about coug'd it hawk, stinky sock, Bilas cheap talk, espn balk, or even Vitale shock? But Rock chalk? WTF?

Let me clarify. Alabama's state bird is known everywhere in the world outside of Alabama as the Northern Flicker. Inside Alabama, it's called a Yellow Hammer. Why?
I'm convinced it's because they needed something to rhyme with "Rammer Jammer".
