More Arkansas Media Myopia
Wally Hall provided yet another example of the myopia of Arkansas media when it comes to college sports. I heard him on the radio this afternoon and the discussion was which of the Sweet Sixteen coaches might be willing to change jobs. Even though VCU is the biggest story of the NCAA tournament so far, Wally Hall had no idea who their coach was.

The fact of the matter is, like most of the Arkansas media, they really don't know squat about what goes on in college basketball unless it somehow involves the Chickenhawgs. It was really refreshing this last weekend to read a real sports page in the Denver Post. Of course they gave attention to Colorado (competing in the NIT) and UNC (Northern Colorado an automatic from the Big Sky), but so much more of the sports was about the bigger national picture. Not some provential small town focus like we have in this state's largest newspaper.

That's what I miss about the Tulsa media. They have OSU and TU (ok, and ORU in basketball and baseball) to balance out the OU hubris. Here, it's a steady, monotonous diet of you know what.

The Bedlam rivalry is fun. (not at all like the Alabama/Auburn hatred).
