Tough day for the Trojans in Wichita
The girls played hard. We got beat by a better team, and or at least they looked like that today. Once again Chastity had to carry the team on her back scoring wise. They had better ball movement, better shooters, better rebounders(but didn't everyone), and they beat us to the loose balls(surprising since Green Bay was all white). I don't think I've seen an all white team in college basketball in years, either men or women.

I believe they had better talent, but considering their record(32-1), and considering how poorly we played(too many turnovers),our team doesn't have anything to hang their head about.

It was a pretty good year for our girls, but not having Kim stood out like a sore thumb. It's going to be interesting to see what we put on the floor next year. I don't see much on that bench.

Gonna miss these seniors.

Green Bay had only one black player and she was on the bench. Regardless, The Phoenix played like a well-run machine. As far as fan support, they had the most vocal support from what I saw and heard today. Our noise came from the band and dance team, which looked awesome on TV. Now, it's up to Middle Tennessee to carry the banner for the Sun Belt!

Sorry Curtis, I never saw a black player, but nevertheless, it's still surprising to see a team with that many white players.

You're not likely to beat many good teams when you only hit two buckets in in the last ten plus minutes of the first half. I turned the game on with about 10 plus minutes left and we were up 17-13. We hit hit two field goals and two free throws in the final 10+ minutes. Luckily they weren't much better in those same minutes , although they did take the lead and maintained it until the half.

We played much better in the second half, and they did likewise.

RE: Tough day for the Trojans in Wichita
The same thing happened to us today that happened last year at Middle with Alyshia Clark. When a good post player gets the ball and drives around our defender, there is never anyone set up to cut her off and take a charge. That #42 did the same thing to us as Clark. I don't understand where our offside defenders are when someone drives all the way from the other side of the court and is uncontested.
If it only happened occasionally I would understand and imagine it's a breakdown, but when it happens over and over, it tells me it's something inherent in our system. Has anyone else noticed this?

This team, while they had a very good year, wasn't quite as good as last years team. I didn't think they were quite as good on defense, and certainly weren't offensively. The missing ingredient, Kim Sitzmann. Obviously the internal problems early in the year probably cost us two or three extra wins.

Still another great year. Hopefully the incoming freshman class will have three players who will be the Chastity's, Asriel's and Shanika's of the future. Plus I think Janet Marieux will be good next year, and if Marian keeps improving, she will be a force inside if she can stay out of foul trouble. As long as Coach Foley is here, we'll be good.

True about Foley. But, as Nolan Richardson said, "when you create the monster, you've got to feed it." I hope he's got some powerful food lined up, because I haven't seen it on that bench.

Is it possible one or more of our players redshirted this season? That could be why we didn't see some players. I don't know if we did or not but that's how mid majors become very good. My concern now is that someone will come hard after Coach Foley. I think it would have to be a pretty strong offer to get him to leave Arkansas, but money speaks pretty loud.

I don't know for sure if anyone redshrted or not, but I do remember that most of them got into a game now and then.

All of your players played in at least one game. So a voluntary redshirt is out. Did any sustain a season ending injury?

It is highly unusual to redshirt players in the women's game outside of medical reasons.

No injuries that I'm aware of. I didn't know that it is unusual to redshirt women though. That's interesting. What is the reason for that?

Seems like I read somewhere where the Green Bay coach attributes much of their success to redshirting players.
