We had better get some guards
for next year. Two slots to fill (assuming Javes is hooked). We definitely need to sign Vint if we can, but that is going to leave us REALLY thin on perimeter players. Any injuries, and we could be in serious trouble.

Fondren needs to be able to play all three perimeter positions.

I think he can play at least the point and the two. I would assume Logan Quinn, the walkon, will be back, and we don't know how much he might help in a backup role at the point. I also look for us to sign at least two more guards. Preferably good shooters. Would like to find a couple like that Matt Dickey kid from Asheville. He was terrific. And a clutch player. He just dominated us in the second half. And their big guy made a lot of difference also, and he wasn't necessarily expected to play. Our luck ran out last night.

If you think we have perimeter problems, North Texas has exactly 60 minutes of returning perimeter experience on the roster.

Can't agree more. Fondren might be a similar type to some of the Ashville players. Athletic with long arms. If I recall, he had a tremendous number of steals this year. That can lead to a lot of points off your defense. When Darrell Walker, Alvin Robertson, Sidney and those type of guys were playing for Arkansas, that's how they scored a lot of their points. You can't normally win a lot of games having to play out of a half court offense all the time. You have to get some easy points off of steals. That's been our problem for quite awhile. Our guards have had short arms and we don't get a lot of steals out front.

We did better this year with D'Andre's quickness and Chucky had some steals with quickness and longer arms for his size. But we also need at least one really good shooter, and I know they're working on that.04-cheers

We really need to hit a home run with whoever we get at guard. Hopefuly Bernard Thompson will sign with us. He'd be a grand slam.

As usual we really don't know who we're recruiting. It's sort of like what's behind door #1, #2 or #3. But with our men's season over now, as soon as the women finish their season, recruiting will be the big thing we'll be looking forward to. I really think, with our NCAA trip, we might just hit a home run this year.
