I'll try to look this up, but if someone knows I'd appreciate the info. I ask because I get tired of hearing coaches who get left out talk about how it's a travesty, when in reality if you were on the bubble to get in I doubt you had a legitimate chance of winning. Therefore, the "travesty" talk is a tremendous overexaggeration...

I believe it was 8th seeded Villanova in 1985. Although I'm not 100 percent sure they were an at large.

Kansas I think was an 8 when Danny & the Miracles won in '88. So was 'Nova in '85 I believe.

I'm with you Bulls... almost sure that is the highest seed to ever win it.

Thanks, guys. It looks like KU was a 6 seed in 1988 (at least according to Wikipedia). It appears 'Nova, who was not the Big East champ that year (Georgetown beat St. John's for the title) is the top at-large team to win it all. So no bubble team has ever gone on to win it all.

I'm just preparing to tell Seth Greenberg to shut up...

Georgetown won the BET that year. Nova was an at large.

NC State and KU were about 10-11 seeds I think. Nova down there as well. Not sure who was lowest.
