If you are watching ESPN 3 does that go towards the tv package or is there a separate ratings system in place or going to be in place for it?

Nielsen does have some form of tracking system for online viewing. I know that ESPN3 & CBSSports.com (for Univision feed) touted their numbers during the World Cup.

They can probably get the actual number of computers watching. That way you can get real numbers, not just numbers from a small sample like Nielsen

I'm sure ESPN has the real numbers online. They still don't actually do any advertising on ESPN3 that I've seen (only promos for ESPN stuff). I'm guessing the advertising sales for online has to be coming soon, especially with Xbox's now able to show games on your TV.

The advertising that I've seen is the same commercial over and over and over and over and over again (usually GEICO). ESPN3 gets revenue in a similar manner as a cable channel, where Internet providers provide them with a per subscriber fee. I don't know of any other website that does this as of now.

Fully understand, Frank, but you know they are going to sell that advertising like they do on TV.

Oh definitely. I'm surprised they don't do more of it already.
