RE: Big East Tourney matchup?
In theory it's possible that the BET could contain 10 ranked teams. If UC and WVU make it into the rankings and Georgetown doesn't fall out.

The 11 seed (UCONN) in the BET is currently ranked 16th in the polls. 7 seed looks better then the 6. Although I'll almost be happier if we lose early and get some rest for the NCAA tourney.

Nope, UConn is the 9 seed. Marquette is the 11 seed. The 6 seed is alot better off than the 7.

Oh my bad, I was going off this site http://www.hoyasaxa.com/sports/brackets-11.htm They must not have updated it after Marquette lost though.

Sky, here is the official site:Big East Tourney I'd much rather face Marquette and Louisville than Villanova and Notre Dame. But, if we can beat Nova they have a strong case for a 5 seed in the NCAA.

Yeah, although Marquette wouldn't be easy either. They may need a couple of wins to make the NCAA tourney. The top ten seeds in the BET should be locks (and all may be ranked next week), Marquette has to convince the selection committee that they are worthy and that they should let 11 Big East teams in. Given their recent losses and victories over only 3 ranked teams, they should be playing with fire.

First Nova "likely"...and then ND. I couldn't have scheduled this better myself. Neither of these teams are good road teams, and that's were we lost against them.

I'm sure the Bearcats "like me"...is chomping at the bit to play them again. Best draw we could asked for. IMO

I wouldn't mind playing Nova at all. That was our first real road test, and we lost that game in the first half, but came back on 'em like garlic bread in the second act. They are playing their worst ball of the year, and we are playing our best. Bring 'em. Bring anybody you want, and you better be prepared for a slugfest...

Dang, the Wednesday game is right in the middle of Ash Wednesday church service. No way I can get out of that. I'll have to sneak my laptop to church to catch the first 15 minutes and listen to the end on my drive home. Or tape the game and try not to hear the score until after I watch.

I would take Nova....I remember clearly after the loss to them Chuck said "this is a team we beat on a neutral court in a month or two".....he saw some things that led him to believe that then and looking at how we are playing now (and nova) I believe him.

Right now, the only team in the Big East I don't want to play is Pitt. But playing defense like we are, I'll take our chances against anybody.

Nova is banged up and struggling at the moment. I do worry a little that they could get hot, but I think the Cats will be motivated for some pay back. That assumes they can get past the 1st round. Pitt and probably Cuse are the 2 teams I really don't want to have to face as I think we do not matchup great with either. ND will be no picnic, but away from ND, I think we can get them.

Spot on #1 04-bow Listen everyone, there are no gimmies in the BE. I would have personally loved to get another shot at that prick Calhoun, but we owe 'Nova one too.

I don't mind ND in the second round either. Despite a horrid start in SB, we had a pretty good chance of catching them before the refs gave Hansborough a gift.

Hell, bring them all on 04-rock

I don't think we could have got a better draw than Villanova ( if they win, not a sure thing ), then Notre Dame. Both games are very winnable since we started mixing in the zone with the man to man, should limit both teams uncontested threes. I also think our offense has gotten better the last couple of weeks, ball movement especially, and the senoirs are playing pretty consistent for a change.

Semi-finals prediction:

Pitt vs Syracuse
West Virginia vs Cincinnati

uc is playing really good defense of late. Nd will be a tough one....they will be fresh and they are playing really well down the stretch. And they can put up points so uc is going to have to defend and shoot well and convert on their offensive opportunities.

But you have to love the way uc is playing. 5 of 6. Defending well. Gates defense is best we've seen out of him. Micks done great job getting these guys playing like this as we are into march

The best thing for UC is missing those early morning (or noon) starts.

I don't mind the thought of playing Nova.Honestly if we continue to play the way we have over the last 3 weeks,I really don't care who we play.
