I think this year proves that you can't just recruit talent, you have to be able to manage it. Cal could do that.

If Pastner fails, and we could get Cal back then I'd be all for it. There is not a single coach in the country who can promote a program, recruit and win like he can/did here. Not Coach K, Self, Williams or any other name you can think of. In this conference all of those things are a must in order to not fall into a true mid-major program since we are never getting a BCS invite. The college basketball landscape has changed over the last 20 years, we no longer have our true rivals in Louisville and even Cincy, we aren't in a conference known for basketball like the Metro or GMW or pre BE raped CUSA, and anyone not in the BCS is just about totally screwed in this day and age. I stand by that no matter what anyone else thinks of me for it. All that said, he's never coming back. It's just not happening.

On the other hand, I haven't given up on Josh be able to get it turned around. Maybe I'm wrong, but I certainly hope not. I like Josh and want him to do well here. It won't be this year though as I think this team has given up and raised the white flag.

Cal is not getting fired at UK if he doesn't win a title next year. From what I see Memphis fans are overreacting just like Kentucky fans. And I believe that's fine up to a point. Fans are going to be critical especially when their team is not doing as well as suspected. But both schools are going to do the exact same thing, and that is give the coaches time. Cal will have at least 4 years and if UK goes to the tournement 4 times and the elite eight twice in that time they still won't fire him. That would be dumb. Pastner of course needs the same. 4 years.

Cal is not coming back and it doesn't matter. The fans and the city care too much to let this program fail. If that means getting a new coach then it will happen but not before he has the appropriate amount of time to show he can or cannot do it.

If Calipari comes back I'll have to start rooting for a team I hate....like UT
