MENS HOOPS
A double digit loss to N Ill this evening, the 21st loss of the season.
We scored only 4 baskets all of the 1st half and shot less than 30% for the game. No Il also played w/o their leading scorer.

The Toledo game this Saturday won't be a gimme. Hard to understand what may have happened this year but Superfan may be right that other than Bowdry there isn't another DIV I player on the team.

The season will be over soon and it remains to be seen what may happen then. I look for this board to pick up in regards to Hoops, should be interesting. Irregardless, a definate rebuilding year looms in the near future.

Hope that whoever the coach is next season that he can bring in some recruits worthy of DIV I SCHOLARSHIPS.

A reshuffling of the current roster is probably in the cards

Is there a mute button on this board? :-)
Dennis I love your enthusiasm, but it's the same stuff over and over again my man...
"How did this happen"
"Never saw this coming"
"What will they do without B-Bo"
It's almost like when the kids keep asking "Are we there yet?"

I promise I'm not "dissin'" you. It's just that the season is over already and everybody is in a holding pattern until announcements are made one way or another...

Now don't get me wrong, I got alotta love for those guys. I mentor two of them they're great guys, but success on the court just wasn't in the cards this year.

Whe ndid I see that this was going to be a bad year? When they played Madona and only won by 9 points and where lucky that is wasn't a loss. Madona had the chance to tie it several times in the last few minutes. We only just barely won the game.

NIU had 4 players out and lost another one during the game and we still lost by 17! At one point we where 1 for 15 from the field!

KPJ - we are obviously not there yet!

Just trying to stir up some conversation on Hoops and express my dissapointment.

I am looking forward however to the next few weeks to see what happens.

RE: MENS HOOPS
KPJ - you mentor some of the players?!??!?! cool. do you work for the university, or is this something on your own?

as for how dismal this season is, i'm still willing to talk about it. it's rough. i like having a message board to share in the misery. but, maybe we can make the conversation about it more interesting. how does this rank with other horrible teams in the past 10 years? is this worse than the melvin hicks team? is this worse than the season where ricky scored 20 pts a game? how would you all gauge it against other crummy seasons?

RE: MENS HOOPS
3 Names we know because of bad basketball at EMU:
1. Craig Erqhart (98-99's leading scorer)
2. Melvin Hicks
3. Ricky Cottril

Again, all good guys. I still talk to Craig occasionally.
He actually is an R&B singer and had one of his songs featured on the TV show "The Game".
As far as this season goes, I would say it's the 3rd or 4th most disappointing season that I've seen since I got here in 99-00.

You're right, Super.

The drought is in its 2nd decade (since the '98/'99 season).
