UofL holds Rutgers to 37
No, not in the half... for the game! The Knights had an offensive outburst with 3 points in the final 30 seconds to get up to 37, with the Cards winning 55-37. What's the record for fewest points in a conference game?
This baby set back basketball quite a bit. The Cards only made 2 field goals over the first 13 minutes of the 2nd half and somehow managed to maintain the 14 point lead they had from the half. Rutgers ran out of energy and UofL expanded the lead over the final few minutes.
EDIT: To answer my own question, I just looked it up in the Big East media guide.
On 1/27/1988, Georgtown held Boston College to 36 points, so Rutgers avoided the conference record for futility with a break away layup with 11 seconds left.

All in all I can't complain about this season. We've done far better than I could have possibly imagined we would have given our lack of talent. Hopefully next year we start winning some of those close games we had been having and we eliminate the WTF game like this one. GG Louisville!

Thanks brista. Tough loss for you guys and I wonder if there was a hangover from the close loss in the Dome over the weekend. I also managed to be impressed by a team who only scored 37. UofL was hot from outside in the first half but Rutgers completely shut UofL down in the 2nd half. The Cards couldn't do anything on offense and Rutgers had a lot to do with that. Rice needs more talent, especially some finishers on the offensive end, but I think you guys are looking up in the future with the coaching change.

Good win for the Cards...
RU has improved so much (as has USF and eve Depaul).....no place left to hide in this conference. Even the lower half is improving dramatically. geesh

Also...fewest pts scored in a Big East Conf Game (heading into this season):
45-40 game between BC & Providence in Feb 2000.

Conversely, you could say that Rutgers held UL to 55.
