RE: Week 7 Power Rankings
Your anti - Miami attitude is a bit troubling. Especially when you consider how friendly you were to 6-6 Ohio University in your write up.
And also if there is any way that Kent State could draw Toledo in the quarterfinals I would be a very happy man.

RE: Week 7 Power Rankings
Kent would have to be the #4 seed for that to happen.
Miami is three games ahead of Ohio and is playing for the #1 seed. Ohio is playing for a first-round home game. I wouldn't compare the two. I did say Miami's the best rebounding team in the conference... Vegas isn't impressed, either, putting Miami +8 tonight. I feel like the RedHawks are playing above their head.

Ha. I did slot them #2, right? I could be wrong and they keep finding ways to win; it would just go on the pile of things I've been wrong about this year.

RE: Week 7 Power Rankings
Pointing out qualities that Miami has that generally cause teams to lose isn't a bias, it's just saying that they are fortunate to win despite those troubles and there is a good chance they can't sustain that. OZoner gave them their credit by ranking them #2 but he observed that they could fall anytime. And if a team is terrible all season and starts to pick it up you will point out that they are getting their stuff together like he did with OU.
I don't know enough about the other teams to say if I agree or not with the rankings and all that but from reading it I didn't gather any significant bias.

Just digging at our buddy JSF. He knows the story. Miami kids are at the library, OU kids at the bar!

Haha fair enough. And you certainly can't argue with that last part!

RE: Week 7 Power Rankings
I agree with you. I MAY have the knowledge to rank the East teams because I have seen them in person and usually watch when they are on STO or ESPNU or whatever. But I truly don't have a clue who is better between EMU and CMU for example. Add NIU into that mix. Same goes for Ball State/Western. As far as I know that is a toss up. The only Ball State action I saw was a poor feed on my laptop.
Of course I say that and now I can't help myself. Here are my "power rankings" heading into tonight and the home stretch:
1) Kent State - Road wins over WMU, Ball State and Ohio, plus taking care of home court so far.
2) Akron - Very hot, and starting to show multiple ways to beat people.
3) Buffalo - Despite their record, I think this team has the most complete starting 5 in the MAC
4) Miami - Is there enough depth here to make a run at the regular season or tournament? Maybe not, but got to hand it to Miami.
5) Western Michigan - How will they respond after losing to KSU, the first test was Toledo so I don't really know.
6) Ball State - I don't want Kent State to see Ball State in the quarterfinals
8) Ohio University - same as above
9) Bowling Green State - I want Kent State to see BG in the quarterfinals
10) Central Michigan - I think the times they are a changing for CMU, but not for the better. I think it may get worse.
11) Northern Illinois - Just doesn't seem like Silas has any help.
12) University of Toledo - I will wear an Akron hat to the Q if Kent State draws Toledo in the quarterfinals.

Not only that, I think he holds a grudge against #7.

No man. Good assessment. I agree about not wanting to see OU in the quarters. Of course, I said that since 2000.

Nah. Kent and OU have been trading wins for the last decade. It's Kent's turn to win.
