Since Akron really CANT win the MAC East title. Here's hoping that they find a way to beat Miami tonight and make tomorrow night's game that much more interesting. Of course, if they get FLUSHED by the Redhawks for the second time this season, so be it.

Miami falls to Akron tonight. We need this game to go 1 up, that puts us in a better position going down the stretch

Looking for a great crowd at the MAC tomorrow night. Three of our last four at home, got to have this game with UB. I would think revenge would be on the boys' minds. I'm predicting a close game, but in the end, Flashes by nine!

Just an FYI, if Akron runs the table and we lose 1 other game, Akron would win the East.

Thankfully this got added to the TV schedule. I was going to make the drive up and back from Central Ohio, but the uncertain weather conditions makes staying home a smart idea.
I think Kent State will win. We will have better luck scoring inside, and it is rare a team really shoot well from 3-point range at the MAC Center. Don't know if it is the defense or the old building.

And we eke out another win. Showing toughness to come from behind against WMU and Buffalo. Just wish we wouldn't put ourselves in those situations. A much needed win. Next up.....those pesky kitty cats.

HORRIBLE REBOUNDING. But great mental toughness shown lately and especially the last 2 games. Way to have Guyton, Sherman, and Greene step up tonight, and Leonard before half was huge with keeping our heads in it.

nice job guys. That one game lead is very helpful. The MAC tournament is going to be anyone's game this year, so securing at the least the NIT would be nice.

Does anyone have the Porrini dunk on video and can post it to youtube? What a great play. It wasn't quite Sherman vs. Western Michigan (Sherman flushed, Porrini played with the rim a little), but it was a very close second. Porrini's dunk wasn't the best part of his game though, his work guarding bigger and stronger post players when Geno went small in the second half was fantastic. Really amazing job tonight by Porrini overall. I wasn't a huge fan at first, I thought he played out of control, but I've learned to live with it some and I think he's learned to control it a bit.

The dunk did not make SC top 10 plays. If someone finds it, please include a link. Thanks.

I had a different opinion of Leornard's play. He did score 5 but he turned the ball over a couple of times and had two or three 3 point shots blocked. I think at best he was neutral. The three at the end of the half was nice but other then that not that good. We went back to that try everybody at the 4 again last night and nothing worked except playing 4 guards. Mann seemed out of it.
The teams body language was terrible even in the second half when they were playing well. Most of it was sheer guts last night as they are one tired team. Sherman looked like he might have been sick also.
Finally I think Geno slowed it down a bit too early. Needed to run the offense aggressively for a couple of more minutes. None of this cost us and we won another one though.

RE: Buffalo
burden,
I agree with you about slowing it down a bit to early. It was pressure and GO that got Kent State back in it and eventually the lead. I really thought KSU just looked "rusty" trying to play slow it down half-court basketball. I guess the other side of the coin is...how much energy did the Flashes burn doing that? Perhaps slowing it down and holding on for dear life (at home) was the best way to win the game.
On Leonard:
The thing that stuck out for me was very simple...he is an athletic body that can bang a bit when Henninger and/or Manss is struggling. The fact that he can shoot is fabulous but it doesn't mean he has to shoot. In fact, if he is going to get into the rotation, he better not shoot until he gets the timing down a bit. But, my point is, Leonard is stronger than Heninger and even though he may not have the systems down pat, his body could become very valuable.

Henniger was struggling with the physical play of Buffalo and Leonard gave us a nice boost. nice that we have someone like that to bring off the bench.

Sherman looked gassed with about 10 minutes left. This team has as much heart and toughness as we have seen at KSU

Yes even the wife said they pulled it out to soon, we hung on thanks to Porinni and Holt making some FT
