NIU billboards
My wife told me about a NIU billboard on North Avenue west of 355 this-morning. Then this afternoon we passed one on 294N just after you pass over North Avenue.

Simple sign with NIU in big red letters on the right and "big possibilities" (or something like that) with niu.edu below.

It's nice to see some billboards marketing the whole school rather than the Naperville and Hoffman Estates campuses or MBA program.

It is sad that I was excited to see this since it's really no big deal to any business that has been around for over a hundred years.

Strange enough I put out my new NIU flag I bought at the VCB after the kickoff.

It sounds better than the one that was on I-88 heading west in Aurora/Naperville. That one had too much going on for it to really be effective driving by 55+ mph. It was some building(probably the Naperville campus building) and a bunch of people and a fairly small "NIU" and the slogan along with the website in small letters. Maybe they read my earlier post and agreed then decided to make it simpler.

03-lmfao If you are serious, I would LOVE a picture. Of course, if this does exist, you should also let the guy who put it up that Patton is with 2 t's.

Saw a billboard on Roosevelt Rd in Lombard today. Said something like NIU learning today, leading tomorrow!

There is a huge NIU billboard along westbound I-55 before Route 83. Very impressive!

Apparently, there's a whole series of billboards.

Seems like we were the last to know...03-zzz
We must not get out that much...03-weeping

I really like two of them and really dislike 3 of them. I am unsure about the others.

The phrase "the power of education" doesn't do anything for me.

I think they should focus on "forward together forward" type of campaign.
Or just keep it simple because most people only glance at them anyways.

Thanks. Most of those look good(ie. you can see what they are promoting with a quick glance).

RE: NIU billboards
they learned from the first round of billboards, where the 'NIU' logo or 'Northern Illinois University' text was hard to see.

these new billboards are simpler, cleaner, and our brand 'NIU' is large and visible. i like it.

It also makes the public aware of some school tradition.

I remember one time I saw a sign for U of Mich with a picture of some student graduating and "hail to the victors".

I think the NIU sign with the students graduating could work the same way with "forward together forward" or some variation.
