I've got to agree with MS on this one. If The BEast goes to 10 teams and 9 conference games, opponents like ECU are going to be few and far between on the Mountaineer football schedule in the future...

RE: Article on WVU football scheduling (ECU fans may be interested)
I have heard from both WVU and Marshall fans that the largest alumni association chapters for both schools are in North Carolina? Due to the number of graduates, the high tech jobs in the RTP area, and the relative few number of high tech jobs in West Virginia. I am not sure if this is completely true or not but I have had fans from both teams while in Greenville tell me the same thing.

A FBS one-and-done buy game is in the $750,000 to $1 million ballpark now. Even the FCS games can be near $500,000 for some teams. That is a lot of money. Schools that average 70,000 to 100,000 can certainly pay for these with a little more ease. Averaging ~55,000 fans makes buying these games on a consistent basis a little more difficult. If WVU or any other team is buying a FCS game a year to get to the 5/6 home game mark. You can use your other 2 games as home and home with another FBS team and have a guaranteed 6 one year and 7 one year home schedule.

I could see WVU possibly buying a FBS team every 2 years and the ECU series being extended out from 6 years to maybe 12 years for the 6 games.

We have series with Va Tech for the next 7 years. 5 years with South Carolina. I think 3 more games with nc state. 1 more with Navy. I could see ECU alternating every other year with WVU and adding a FCS team maybe every 2-3 years. With averaging 50,000 fans now maybe we could even buy a FBS game every few years?!?!

I am sure the schools can work something out.

The largest WVU alumni association base south of Morgantown is in Charlotte. That should tell you something...

Tells me that the ECU/West Virginia series is not in jeopardy as long as West Virginia is in the Big East.

Now, if the ACC wised up and invited West Virginia...
