WVU-Syracuse game
The Mountaineers are up 7-5 early at the dome. So far it's an interesting game...

22-20 WVU with about 8 minutes to go first half. Looks like it will be a tussle ...

It's amazing watching this game, however. WVU is shooting better from the 3 than they are for the game. 7-14 3's - 50% 04-jawdrop

Syracuse wins 63-52... 03-banghead

If only WVU could have gotten Triche to foul out. He was the straw that stirred cuse's drink tonight...

Trich almost brought SYR back against the Cardinals on saturday. Tonite he put them over the top.

WVU is now a bubble team, IMO.

They could easily turn into a bubble team with the toughness of their remaining schedule, but as of this moment, their OOC wins over Purdue and Vandy plus @Georgetown have them solidly in.

I think they will likely beat ND at home, then split their two road games and then follow that up with a split of their remaining two home games vs. Louisville and UConn. That will get them 19-11 (10-8) with 5 Top 25 RPI wins and a projected RPI of 18-20 and an SOS of 3-5 heading into the BET.

Cheers,
Neil

If WVU beats Notre Dame in their next game, all this will be forgotten. The Mountaineers have Pitt after that. We've got plenty of chances to make a statement...

This just isn't a good team right now. You know things are bad when Cam Thoroughman is starting.

Kilicli will be starting by the time the season ends. He just feels more comfortable starting on the bench. He feels the refs tend to focus on him if he starts, which he feels leads to a lot of bad calls on him. Frankly, I think he's got a legitimate grievance about the refs. I've seen several instances where Kilicli gets fouled, and the refs call the foul on him. Being big has its disadvantages at times...

Being big and awkward is no advantage. Thats the problem with Kilicli, when he's up against big athletic forwards or centers. I would certainly like to trade you guys though and take Kilici for Fab Melo at this point.

RE: WVU-Syracuse game
IMO he should just go in there and bang, and if they call a foul, at least the guy would KNOW he's been fouled. But Kilicli is not awkward. He's more used to the European style of play, and is still finding his way. Basically, he's a freshman, because nearly the entirety of last season was lost to a stupid suspension. Kilicli has been behind the 8-ball his entire career in Morgantown so far...

Have the Mountaineers ever beaten ND at BB or FB? I cannot recall. Seems like they have our number in hoops even when they should not. Just have not matched up with them in FB with some of the better WVU teams, except once. The best team did not win that day IMHO.

WVU beat ND in last year's Big East tournament. I don't know the last time WVU beat ND in the regular season however.

RE: WVU-Syracuse game
As far as football, ND is 4-0 against WVU, including the Fiesta Bowl national championship win after the 1988 season.

ND beat WVU in 1998 in South Bend and in 2000 in Morgantown.

I think that Saturday's game will be a good one. Nobody on the Irish side thinks it will be anything other than a very tough game.

When my brother was dying last October, I went back to PA to see him in ICU. We brought him home to die on his own terms.

While watching ND beat Boston College in football the night before he died, he showed me the ND/WVU basketball game program from 1971 in Morgantown. I hope his sons still have it.
