Looks like the Big East has a good shot too win all those games. The Cincy and Louisville games may be tough though.

Apparently the Big East asked USF to move the date of the Miami game from November 26th (the Saturday after Thanksgiving) to November 19th (the Saturday before). I'm kind of bummed about that...

Odd one on that schedule is that they moved Miami-FSU to a mid-November date. Typically a mid-October game except when moved to Labor Day.

The Cards were supposed to play UNC the first game in September. If UNC gave a lower-division school (JMU) priority in scheduling, why didn't we drop them and help out our future BE brothers? TCU is scrambling to fill out its schedule and we're pandering to an ACC team.

I understand UNC lost a lot of players not just through graduation but also through disciplinary action. Considering that and the fact that Coach Strong exceeded expectations his first year, I think we'll beat them.

That's interesting to me, too. It looks like they flipped the traditional scheduling of VT-Miami (which will be in mid-October this year) with FSU-Miami. Maybe they've figured that FSU-Miami would be more valuable pushed toward the end of the season. The ACC also has tOSU @ Miami early in September, so maybe it's "spreading the wealth" across the months, so to speak.

TCU is rumored to have completed their OOC schedule with the help of BYU, who had a 13th game to use if they wanted to.

I don't think UNC gave JMU priority necessarily, but did not want to back out of either deal.

Because it would be a one and done for whoever the road team would be in a TCU vs. Louisville matchup.

My guess is that moving it to 11/19 will give it a better chance for it to be picked up by ABC. With the Big Ten having pushed its schedule back so that the regular season ends on Thanksgiving weekend, ABC is almost certainly going to be taking 2 Big Ten games (Michigan-Ohio State at 12 pm ET and either Penn State-Wisconsin or Iowa-Nebraska at 3:30 pm ET). ND-Stanford is almost a lock for a prime time slot and you might see that game get split coverage nationally with Miami-BC and whoever might be offered up from the Big 12. There's more room for Miami-USF on 11/19 to get better distribution unless the BE wanted to make that into its ABC Black Friday game.

Does it seem like the ACC has a lot of ESPN Thursday night games on this schedule? I know they play on Thursdays from time to time but I have always thought of that prodominately being a Big East time slot. I wonder if that means less Thursday night games for the Big East and more Friday or Wednesday night games?

9/22 NC State at Cincinnati
10/27 Viriginia at Miami
11/3 FSU at Boston College
11/10 Va Tech at Georgia Tech
11/17 UNC at Va Tech

That actually makes a ton of sense, Frank. I had forgotten that the plan to play Thanksgiving weekend stemmed from the world before the Big Ten's expansion.

mattsarz has said that these other games have also been confirmed for Thursday nights:

9/15 - LSU at Mississippi State
10/6 - Cal at Oregon
10/13 - USC at Cal
10/20 - UCLA at Arizona

I think we can also assume that Texas-Texas A&M will be played on Thanksgiving night (11/24).

If the NFL has a lockout, there will be much more emphasis placed on high profile NCAA games...

So am i. I visit my parents/brothers in Tampa every Thanksgiving, and in 2009 that meant i got to attend the Miami game at RJ stadium (though it didn't exactly turn out like i'd hoped). But as i can't come to town the weekend before Thanksgiving, that means i won't be able to do it again this year. 03-hissyfit

Quite normal for the ACC to have at least four Thursday night games. They can have up to six. The NC State-Cincy game counts towrds the Big East contract.

Wow....if that is the case.....that means the only dates not commited on Thursday night is 9/8 and 9/29.

Basically, that means the typical Thursday night Big East matchups are not happening. No more Rutgers-USF or Louisville-UWV.

I have a feeling with CUSA being out of the ESPN week night lineup.....the Big East is going to have to play those Wednesday and Friday night games.

There are also 9/1 and 12/1 available (the first and last Thursday nights of the season), although I can see your concern. You'll probably see another Big 12 matchup or two on Thursday nights, which means there are only one or two slots available after that.

I would hope we'll be refusing for the most part on Wednesday nights. Wednesdays are horrible as far as I'm concerned.
