Good win for SJU
Puts us 2 games above .500 in the BE and gives us a quality road win to pad our RPI with. Top 20 RPI and the #1 SOS, not bad at all. Would be nice to beat marquette on the road on Tuesday, but it's not a must win

I'd love to see the RedMen make the NCAA tournament.

that certainly makes two of us. It's fun to think about next season's recruiting class, but it'd be nice to at least end this season with an appearance in the tourney

Just don't do it in the UC forum. They've become hostile to everyone, even conference mates...

Some of my best college basketball memories are of the battles between the great St John's and Georgetown teams of the early to mid 1980s. 04-cheers

That was a nice win. Tuesday probably is a must win for Marquette.

Basically agree.

As I see it, St. John's basically cemented their bid today to join 8 other Big East teams (assuming none of them tank the rest of the way). Marquette had a chance to do that today at Georgetown (all they were missing was a Top 25 road win) but couldn't get the win.

They will likely need to win 4 of their remaining 6 games to get to 10 wins in conference and then will need a BET win to get to 20 wins.

While not mathematically out of it, I just don't see the Bearcats finishing .500 in conference. But they certainly have opportunities ahead to prove they belong with 2 games against the Hoyas, 1 against the Cards and still another against UConn, and three of those four games being at home.

Still a brutal stretch for a team that is 2-6 against Top 25 RPI teams so far this season.

Cheers,
Neil

Swoosh, congratulations on SJ's hard-earned road win. You definitely earned it more than we did.

RE: Good win for SJU
Good analysis Neil. Lunardi may still have all 11 in his bracket tomorrow but when you look at remaining schedules I see 9, maybe 10 bids. Marquette is 2-7 in games decided by 5 points or less, they just can't close out against top teams. They do have a relatively light schedule remaining however. If they can't finish 4-2 against this they probably don't deserve a bid.

UC gave that game to St. Johns. It has become a pattern with UC so I'll be very happy if this is Cronin's last year.

kinda like the last game, where we gave it to you? 12 of 26 from the ft line wasn't due to Cincy's defense

You won't get any disagreement from me there.

It just sucks seeing what UC's program has come to. This program has begun to accept mediocrity and it's embarrassing.

That is true, but our OOC schedule was weak this year.
