How much value will UCF add? NONE

The Orlando Market - USF and Big East games are already shown and due to cable network agreements, if there was a Big East Network, it would be picked up in Orlando without UCF due to USF's proximity

New Sports Facilities - nearly every university is building up their facilities

Recruiting - the Florida door is already open to Big East schools, adding another Florida school to the mix would make it much harder for all Big East schools to recruit this state

TV Interest - based on viewership numbers and ratings for UCF football and basketball games on national TV / cable, there does not seem to be too much interest in the Knights.

Fans - most are aholes and a few are ok. Their fan base is not as large as other schools though they have 55,000 students and much like when I was at USF, many are fans of other schools first which is a shame but the truth.

National Rec - outside of central Florida, I doubt you will run into more than one UCF fan or see UCF merchandise.

So what does UCF add of value?

A new market / area / region - NO

Large fan base - NO

TV Interest - NO

New Facilities - Yes

Recruiting - NO

National Rec - NO

I moved your post to the smack board. We are trying hard to stop smack talk from any UCF fans. While your post is your opinion on the subject it really serves only to bring them over to defend their school.

The topic of whether a school brings enough to be added to the Big East was beaten to death in the expansion board and we dont need to rehash it. Feel free to continue it here if you wish.

I posted this on the general board, but it's of interest to this thread as well. It's an article in Sporting News about why Houston is a better add than the Orlando school. Check it out: USF Doesn't Want UCF...

We have addressed this before, there is no Big East game of the week in the Orlando market. If ESPN is showing a national game in which a Big East team is playing than yes it will be shown in Orlando as it would anywhere else. USF games are not shown in Orlando, nor is any other Big East game on a regular basis.

I think it is difficult to say that "everyone is building new athletic facilities." If that were the case than USF would not be playing in an NFL stadium off campus now would they.

I won't argue with you that UCF would bring a boat load to the conference, it simply won't but than again no on else available would bring more, not even Houston as much as you would like to think.
