Interesting 8-0 CUSA and 0-4 OOC projection there PurplenGold
South Carolina is favored to go undefeated in the SEC East, so losing to them is hardly something to feel bad about... but - WE get their first game and therefore I think we have the best chance to beat the Gamecocks! They return almost everyone and add that Clowney fella but really guys, its a Bowl Game atmosphere and we have a vicious offense with a polish that they won't have any tape on and all tape on our defense from last year will have their offense under-prepared.
Win 38-30 The Dominique Davis Coming Out Party.
I don't think anyone has as bitter a taste in their mouth as Davis does with how the season ended last year. His progressions and decision making will be on point and he'll definitely have to convert a lot of third downs using his feet. Defense will get lucky with a huge turnover.
The Virginia Tech Hokies will be going into the 2011 season without quarterback Tyrod Taylor or runningback Ryan Williams.
Previous to us they play Appalachian State.
Va Tech - Win - 42-35 Our offense will have new developments and the key players all have more experience. I think Lincolns whole summer will be devoted to game plans for these first two games. We have these two games and then our Bye Week. Don't leave anything on the table! We pull out all the stops and trick plays - we exhaust every surprise in the book. I pray App State doesn't beat VaTech - or even come close. Our coaches and players will be able to put two halves together and pull away in the fourth in front of the largest crowd to ever fill Dowdy Ficklen.
OPEN DATE
The Blazers go to Florida to open the season, and then host Tulane.
UAB - Win - 24-21 but we'll be lucky to walk away with a W. The offense sputters and we leave points on the board by pushing the pedal too hard. By not punting and kicking FGs, we turnover on downs a couple of times in the first and allow UAB to feel comfortable. We will be louder than the Swamp and the Blazers might even fall to 0-3 to start a long season. Following the Bye Week provides a wild card here and provides us with a reset button if we happen to drop the first two contests.
Maybe by week four the NCAA will have finally handed down a ruling on Cheater-Hill but I look for them to have a great season unfortunately. They would have been fighting for the BCS berth last year and have mastered the art of winning ugly.
The Tarheels Host James Madison, Rutgers and Virginia before heading on the road to Georgia Tech... then on the road to Greenville.
They're 4-0 and We're 3-0 (as I'm predicting it we'd be ranked): Too much hype I fear. This is my toss-up game. I really can't predict it without seeing both teams take the field in 2011.
I'm glad I'm not a Houston fan.
Before us the host UCLA to then hit the road and play @ North Texas and @ Louisiana Tech. Then they host Georgia State. Then they play @ UTEP. They host our Pirates the week before their bye-week.
I hate to say it but I think Keenum is going to get hurt again. North Texas, Lousiana Tech and Georgia State will be trying everything imaginable to disrupt the Heisman contender and I fear it will lead to a minor injury from a late hit. Regardless, even if he's hurt... we get a Heisman contender @ his place.
Houston - L - 48-35
Memphis 42-14 W
nothing to see here, moving on
Homecoming Game following road trip to Rutgers and before road trip to Notre Dame.
Following 2010 Embarassment
Navy - Win - 28-24 (yes, I think it'll be low)
Navy plays USM before us and SMU after us.
Tulane has a perfect schedule! They might actually be able to build upon this season. With the extra game resulting from playing @ Hawaii (last game of the season - for a December Bowl Game) they get a warm up versus SoutheasternLouisiana. Road Games @ Duke and @ Army and Host Syracuse. They'll be heading into Greenville following 3 home games and some potential momentum. Still though, its Tulane.
Tulane - Win - 42-21
Apparently USM's "Anyone/Anytime/Anywhere" mentality doesn't apply to 2011. They could have built up some wins and momentum but I also like that we play them after they host SMU and then go to UTEP. They come to our house, and we won't need a miracle comeback.
So Miss - Win - 38-28
Final Three... so far away and my imaginary season has us at 8-1 or 7-2.
@ UTEP : Tough to Win when you travel halfway across the country... its an ugly W but a W nonetheless.
UCF : It pains me to predict a Loss here and we go into another three way tie with UCF and USM.
@ Marshall : WIN! They showed potential this year but fell apart mid season.
10-2 or 9-3
C-USA Championship game: We have as good of a chance at hosting this as anyone else. We'll be in the hunt for the championship but I see it going to tiebreakers. If we rematch Houston - we Win! If we face SMU - we Lose.
Still can't pick that damn UNC Game.
Sorry for all who wasted time reading this.
