I like Nick. He's a very good Toledo fan...and that's about it.

Is he the VanDelay of VanDelay Industries? You know the importer exporter of latex products.

If Nick is into latex, I like him even more. He can be a loser and root for Toledo all he wants, but if he can get me bulk order discounts on my latex products, he's my man! :ncaabbs:

My favorite was Boone Thorgenson as the #22 rared MAC recruit in 2007 over Chandler and many others. He did have JJ Watt as #21.

To be fair, on paper Toledo had a very good recruiting class. Also to be fair, probably better than ours on paper. What happens on the field of course, we will see in due time.

Although I understand he wants to concentrate on importing and do less exporting.

Does anyone really think that Andrew Ness is our best recruit? He is good but Womble or Nelson might top my list.

Love how it so happens all the major Toledo recruits are above ours on both the Freshman and JUCO list. This guy just doesn't get it. 8th really? That's the lowest any service has on any list I've seen.

I don't agree with him putting NIU so low, but that doesn't make him a Toledo homer. He hasn't picked Toledo to do much of anything in the MAC West standings since 2005. And for what it's worth, here's where he has ranked Toledo's recruiting classes over the last several years:

2011 - 1st
2010 - 1st
2009 - 12th
2008 - 11th
2007 - 4th
2006 - 3rd
2005 - No ranking given, but he had Akron and NIU the highest as outstanding and UT, WMU, and EMU listed in the next level as excellent
2004 - 1st
2003 - 6th
2002 - 2nd

He has ranked Toledo 1st in 2010 and 2011, but Rivals and Scout both ranked Toledo 1st both years as well. In fact, Nick has only ranked Toledo 1st 3 times in the 13 years he has done MAC recruiting rankings, going back to the recruiting class of 1999. His yearly class winners are as follows:

2011 - Toledo
2010 - Toledo
2009 - Central Michigan
2008 - Kent State
2007 - Miami
2006 - Akron
2005 - Northern Illinois
2004 - Toledo
2003 - Central Florida
2002 - Central Florida
2001 - Western Michigan
2000 - Marshall
1999 - Marshall

It that makes him a Toledo homer in your eyes, then I don't know what to say.

I really like the class you brought in and think it's one of the top 3 this year in the MAC, and Rivals.com agrees with me......but Scout.com doesn't.

Scout.com has you 6th with overall points and 10th if going by average rating per recruit. The 6th overall is better than Vandelay Sports' 8th, but there's probably not much difference between 6th and 8th. My guess is that Nick relied a lot on Scout.com rankings to come up with his analysis.

I love the work Nick does. It is great that someone takes such a great interest in MAC football.

Are we 8th? Probably not.....But we are not in the top -3- and after the top -3- the next 6-8 are about the same. Don't get me wrong I like our class, but Doeren got a late start. We really missed a playmaker on that DLine. I wanted to see DE & TE in that 6'5 range and we did not get, but got a decent class.

The new staff did an excellent job after a late start.

Not doubting he likes the MAC, just many think its a shame Toledo always has to be the best when its promoted as a neutral MAC site. I mean fans here know about the bias toward the Rockets, but what if someone outside these boards stumbled onto his site and saw Toledo ranked so high all the time, its a little misleading to the general fan.

It was real biased when he ranked UT 11th and 12th in '08 and '09.
