Outside of his 48 steals and his rebounding, I see nothing in Fondren's stats to give me any reason why we recruited him.

You do realize that we're outside the cloaking device's domain, aka Private Board.

Nothing negative. Just a comment. Actually a compliment. Stats do not always tell the whole story. Some kids just get the job done even if they don't shoot really well. I suspect Fondren is another of those tough kids who play a small 3 in the Fowler mold.

48 steals is outstanding. Our two leaders, Chucky and D'Andre have 26 each, which is pretty darn good, and he's got nearly twice as many as either of them. And he's obviously a strong rebounder and is second on the team in scoring, without being a very good three point or free throw (that worries me) shooter. I have the feeling he might have the length our coaches are looking to recruit. A combination of quickness and long arms normally equals steals. Sounds like a solid, tough player. Maybe a Darrell Walker type, for those of us who remember the great Razorback guard.04-cheers

RE: Fondren
He is in a situation where he obviously is forced to play a role that he will not play here, at least not at first. He has taken the most 3-point shots on the team, despite shooting only 26%. That would never happen here. He leads the team in assists, which means he is a good distributor, but has way too many turnovers. Looks like a kid who can do some things really well, but not everything. He has to do everything there. He won't here, and can spend his time doing what he does well.
